‘Don’t go!’ says Bob Saget

"The Aristocrats" -- Penn & Teller’s film about "the dirtiest joke ever told" -- was the hit of CineVegas. It is so filthy that a celebrity walked out of the Hollywood premiere, a movie theater chain has banned it and at least one of the 100 featured comics is warning people to stay away.

"I tell people, ”˜Don’t go to see it,’" Bob Saget, who performs some of the flick’s most explicit material, told reporters at the Los Angeles press junket last week, according to the New York Post. "My mother wanted to go see it. I told her, ”˜You’re not going. You’re in the joke.’" The former star of TV’s Full House added that he "could never go back to doing that kind of show after this!"

The unrated film features comics as diverse as George Carlin, Jason Alexander, Chris Rock, Drew Carey, Andy Dick, Eric Idle, Whoopi Goldberg, Hank Azaria, Phyllis Diller and Tim Conway all giving their take on the ultra-raunchy routine. At the Hollywood premiere last week, newly single Lorenzo Lamas, attending with two women, bolted from the Egyptian Theater 15 minutes into the film. The AMC theater chain has barred it from any of its 3,500 screens.

Changes continue to take place at Wynn Las Vegas. This time, it’s the demise of LaBete, the hotel’s featured nightclub. Victor Drai, the mentor of the Las Vegas after-hours scene, has become a partner and will operate the venue that will have a name change and a multi-million dollar renovation. The nightspot will shutter in October for a month-long remodeling. You can bet it will reopen with a bang and should become a mainstay along The Strip now that it has a name accepted within late-night operations. The only question remains is can Mr. Wynn and Mr. Drai get along?

The Harrah’s folks have a winner in Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. In fact, this writer’s already got a new hat with matching boots to fit in with the crowd that’ll hang at the bar. Press day last week was terrific. Keith was friendly and the food, well, it was to die for! Seriously, I didn’t know country grub could be so good. I’ve already told the crack Harrah’s PR crew I’ll be back for more. The nighttime shindig, which started past my bedtime, I hear was a blast. Keith didn’t sing, but the band hired for the night kept things jumping. They were joined by The Scintas for some rockin’ country. Chrissi Scinta and Keith did an a cappella version of "Amazing Grace" backstage that brought Keith to tears and joy to Chrissi’s heart.

We may not be as big a "sin city" as Amsterdam, but the Palms and Maloof Productions will pay homage to the lustful Dutch capital by hosting the premiere of Columbia Pictures’ comedy, "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," starring Rob Schneider and Eddie Griffin. The flick is set in Amsterdam. The event takes place at Brenden Theatres at the Palms on Aug. 6. Festivities start at 7 p.m. with the red carpet celebrity arrivals, including stars Schneider, Griffin and Hanna Verboom. Others attending will include the Maloof family, Johnny Brenden and the Palms Girls. The Palms will also release a limited edition $5 "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" commemorative casino chip.

The Veterans Centennial Committee and the National Heritage Foundation are presenting a "Tribute to the Veterans Summer Fest" to raise funds to assist the more than 250,000 veterans living in Southern Nevada on Saturday at the Henderson Pavilion.
