Blue turf = ‘over’

I’m not sure which is worse, Stanford losing to Cal-Davis or the UNLV quarterback situation. We’ll call it a push and examine this week’s college football slate.

B.Green -8½ at Boise St (76½): Expect plenty of scoring on that blue turf. Buckle up your seat belts for a Wednesday night special. Omar Jacobs could pass for 600! OVER.

Penn St -6½ at N’western (50): Nittany Lions fans getting excited about 3-0 start. Not so fast, my friends. Joe Pa has been scheduling cupcakes. Wildcats can score and the oppoent is not as potent as Arizona State. NW.

Mich St. -11 at Illinois: Great spot for an upset with Spartans coming off emotional win over Notre Dame and facing rival Michigan next week. ILLINOIS.

Florida -23½ at Kentucky: Another excellent letdown game with Gators off big win over Tennessee and heading to Alabama next week. Kentucky hung tough with Louisville. That’s not a bad team. KENTUCKY.

Colorado +14 at Miami, FL (44): Just have the feeling Miami is starting to get its act in gear, which is big trouble for the Buffs. MIAMI.

Memphis PK at Tulsa (47½): Tulsa destroyed North Texas 52-2, which may not mean much except it came as an underdog.Memphis has stud RB DeAngelo Williams. Little else. TULSA.

N.Mexico +2½ at UTEP (59): First team to score 40 wins. OVER.

Tenn +6 at LSU: Only thing worse for Vols than a Saturday night in Gainesville is another one in Baton Rouge. Especially after a hurricane. LSU.

Last week: 4-4

Season: 16-18

And now for Week 3 of the NFL, which is going well so far.

Bengals -3 at Bears: Safe way to go is the total with both defenses playing well.

Panthers -3½ at Dolphins: Miami plays well at home in September. Just can’t score.

Browns +13½ at Colts: A replay of 49ers-Eagles from last week. Peyton explodes here.

Cards +6½ at Seahawks: Arizona will shock the erratic Seahawks in Seattle.

Titans +6½ at Rams: We like Steve McNair, HC Jeff Fisher and guts of Tennessee D over Mike Martz as big favorite.
