From Oktoberfest to Halloween, it’s a good week to party "On the Cheap!"

One of the final Oktoberfest celebrations for 2005 is a good one at Ellis Island Casino & Brewery. This annual event will be held on Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m. The $10 admission to the outdoor party (weather permitting or held indoors instead) includes a free collectors mug, an all-you-can-eat German-themed buffet featuring bratwurst, weisswurst, pork chops and cabbage, and giant German pretzels with mustard plus and an unlimited supply of EIB (Ellis Island Brewery) beer. The brewmaster will also be presenting a special Oktoberfest brew.

In addition to the food and drinks, they will be holding cash drawings throughout the day. Players can collect drawing tickets all month long — one drawing ticket for every 500 points earned on their Players Club account, another for every jackpot and if you wear Alpine attire to the party you’ll get another free drawing ticket. Oktoberfest t-shirts will be given away as prizes throughout the day and they will also be available for sale.

As the witching hour nears, there are plenty of opportunities to don your favorite costume, hit the Halloween parties and even compete for some costume contest prizes.

Carnaval Court at Harrah’s Las Vegas on the Strip is brewing up the "Monster Cash Party" set for Monday, with $10,000 to be given away. The party heats up at 8 p.m. and will simmer until 3 a.m.

Guests have an opportunity to win one of eight ghoulish green prizes by getting creative with their Halloween attire. This year, costumes will be judged in two categories: "sexiest lady" and "most creative" outfit.

The audience will decide on the top four costumes from each category with cash prizes totaling $10,000. The sexiest and the most creative costumes will advance to the "scare-off" to compete for the ultimate grand prize of $2,500 each. Contestants will need to be present between 10 p.m. and midnight. Winners will be announced between midnight and 12:30 a.m.

To compliment the haunted evening, Carnaval Court with serve up Patron Tequila drink specials all night long, with non-stop live entertainment. Admission is $10 a person.

Out at Lake Las Vegas, Casino MonteLago will be throwing a free Halloween party. The Monster Bash Halloween Costume Contest and Party is being sponsored by the casino along with radio station KQOL 93.1 FM on Saturday, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

From Friday through Monday, the Imperial Palace will be hosting a weekend-long Halloween party at Tequila Joe’s called "Scary-Okee." Costumes are encouraged but optional at the parties, which will feature drink specials, karaoke, games and dancing.
