Steubenville,Ben play Big

Oct 25, 2005 1:36 AM

First, let’s take a look at the big win by the Steelers over the Bengals. Pittsburgh is just a different team with "Big Ben" calling the signals and the entire team has full confidence in him.

Pittsburgh also continued their torrid streak on the road, winning 10 straight since losing at Baltimore in the second game of the 2004 regular season.

Thanks to all my Steubenville High friends, who e-mail me and ask how the "Mighty Big Red" are doing. Well, they are one game away from completing their third straight undefeated season and are ranked #1 in the state in their division. Every Friday night Harding Stadium is sold out 10k strong. Now of course there are not many more things you can do in the "Ville" on Friday night!

Now lets see if we can get some college winners.

BC +14 at Va Tech: Thursday night. You’re right by thinking this Saber guy is a glutton for punishment. BC, off a bye week, is 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings with VT, including 4-0 at a dog. The Hokies are on a mighty roll, but this is the best defense they’ve seen. BC.

Colo St +4 ½ at N.Mexico: Friday night. Lobos have been better on the road than at home, going 12-2 ATS in their last 14 road games. The underdog in this series has covered the last five meetings. State is in double revenge mode. COLO ST.

Purdue +15 at Penn St.: First of the Saturday picks. Lions a two TD favorite! Wow! I want to play the Boilers in the worst way, but can’t. Joe Pa has covered last four and lost past two to Purdue. Boilers 0-7 ATS. PENN ST.

UTEP —19 at Rice: Host Owls stinky 0-6 ATS. Miners appear on their way to a bowl and should blow these guys away just like last year’s 30-point win. UTEP.

Texas -35 ½ at Okla St.: The Longhorns are on a mission with unstoppable QB Vince Young. Texas 7-0 SU/ATS. State is 1-5 ATS. Big time blowout. TEXAS.

Michigan -3½ at N’western: As Butch and Sundance once said, "who are these guys?" In this case Northwestern, which once considered dropping Big Ten football. Michigan just may be too conservative. N’WESTERN.

Last week: 3-2

Season: 28-30

Now for the NFL.

Bears +3 at Lions (32½): Last two games Bears have yielded nine points. Lions lost close to Panthers, then won at Cleveland. Detroit got clobbered at Soldier Field. Big time revenge. LIONS.

Last week: 0-2-1

Season: 8-11-1
