Talk about a runaway horse, it’s Vegas. When I arrived in the 70s, I thought I had died and gone to heaven, even with the heat. Now I don’t even recognize the place.
No more $5 meals in coffee shops. Now you stand in line for 20 minutes, wait another 20 to get noticed and 45 more for the food — hoping they don’t mess up the order.
My complaints are countered with "it’s progress," but I’m not impressed. Years ago, the only high rise condos were downtown and they were called the Clark County Jail! Now condos rise faster than gas prices. And, I see high rise buses, the double-deckers like in jolly old England. Maybe I am just getting old.
Time for college picks.
Wake +7½ at GT: The Tech offense has gone south for the winter, mostly scoring in the low teens and covering just twice. Wake can score and is on a nice roll with five straight cover winners. The dog in this series is 7-3 against the number. WAKE.
Tulane +11 at Navy: Only wins for the Green Wave came versus SMU and SE Louisiana. They gave the game away to Marshall last week. Navy played Rutgers tough, but lost it late. The Middies are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 with Tulane. NAVY.
Tex A&M +14 at Tx.Tech: I want no part of A&M after no show performance last week at home against Iowa State. Aggies are an anemic 2-8 ATS against Tech in last 10 matchups. Tech blanked improving Baylor and alive for a 10-1 season. TECH.
Tenn +9 at N.Dame: Vols have to be down after losing last week at home to S.C. Laying less than 10 looks good to eat. Irish are for real and have a great coach. No letup here. ND.
NMex St +34 at Boise St.: Blow out time on the blue carpet. BOISE
Miami, Fl +6½ at VT: Getting Miami plus a TD! One great game to watch with two of the best defenses in the country. I see money line with a side/total parlay. MIAMI/UNDER.
Bama -17 at Miss St.: Tide just may be looking ahead to LSU next week. You can bet State is under no pressure with its season nearly done. MISS ST.
Last week: 2-4
Now for my NFL take.
Colts -3 at Pats: Colts need to break through at NE. Pats have won the last six. Brady showed Bills he’s still got it. Bruschi again inspires and Belichick will have right game plan. PATS.
Last week: 0-1
