I dream 15-teamer despite IRS

You know I just love Las Vegas. Fortunes are won and lost every week and the shot is there for anyone that wants to take a chance.

Every year it happens to someone and last week it was a very lucky California bettor up in Reno playing parlays. The card had bets up to 15 teams. This guy wagered parlays from 12 to 15 teams and hit all four cards, including a 15-teamer that returned 100k for his $5. He also hit the 12, 13 and 14 — good for over $150,000. The IRS was also happy getting their 28 percent.

There was a friend of mine who was always complaining about never hitting a 10-team parlay or MegaBucks. His only problem was that he never bet a 10-teamer and just once played a 20 spot in MegaBucks. He took out 35 and never played again. So, you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.

Well there is a lot of relief in the Sports Book industry this week. The dogs came out barking and covered eight of the 15 games last Sunday. The books got their biggest chunk of money back with the Chargers, Broncos and Panthers — all going down the tubes. Denver was the lone outright winner, but only by two as a 14-½ point favorite.

The books are still a long to regaining all the lost money from the past month. I know a lot of cab drivers, who are not willing to give up their new "caddies" yet. Two more good weeks and a successful Bowl season would be all the books need. We’ll see if the dogs continue barking.

Maybe I’m back on track, actually having a winning Week 14 in the NFL. Let’s see if I can keep it going.

NFL WEEK 15

Saturday, Dec. 17

Bucs +4½ at Patriots (36): I want no part of the Bucs, who are playing their third straight road game. They also have to play on Christmas Eve. The TB offense stinks and the Pats look rejuvenated as they make a run for the playoffs. PATS

Sunday, Dec. 18

49ers +14½ at Jaguars (40): I am not in the habit of laying more then two TDs, but it looks like the 49ers have given up and playing for a lottery pick. Jags reeling a little off the Colts game, but showed a lot of spunk in comeback effort and should roll. JAGS, UNDER.

Seahawks -7½ at Titans (45): Seahawks on major roll offensively and defensively, winning nine straight games with the Colts on their menu the following week. I don’t think HC Mike Holmgren will let them look ahead to what likely will be a loss. Titans could only muster a field goal against the Colts two weeks ago and just did get past Houston. SEAHAWKS, UNDER.

Jets +7½ at Dolphins (36): New Dolphins HC Nick Saban has his team fired up, getting their sixth win with a rousing 23-21 upset as a 13-point dog at San Diego. The "Fish" still have playoff aspirations and you will see a top effort. DOLPHINS, UNDER.

Cowboys +2½ at Redskins (36): Both teams played hard to pull off wins last week. This game looks like it will be a real barn burner and low scoring. First meeting in Dallas, the "Skins" pulled out a 14-13 win as a 6-point dog. Looks like a field goal game. That Washington victory was its first cover in the last eight matchups with Dallas. This will make it two in a row. SKINS, UNDER

Last week: 5-2

Season: 16-20-2
