For Chris Andrews, well-respected Nevada race and sports book executive, his new job will be just like going home again.

Andrews has been named director of operations for northern Nevada by Leroy’s Horse and Sports place Inc., a subsidiary of American Wagering Inc. (BETM).

Prior to moving to Las Vegas two years ago to join the new owners of the Golden Nugget Hotel/Casino, Andrews had spent more than two decades as the head of race and sports operations for the Club Neva in Reno. During that time, he established policies that helped grow the property’s two betting locations into 20 outlets employing some 120 workers.

At the Golden Nugget, where he was vice president of race and sports operations, he created Nevada’s highest paying football contest, "The Ultimate Challenge" that offered a guaranteed prize of $500,000.

In his new post, Andrews will be working closely with another legendary Las Vegas sports bookmaker, Jimmy Vaccaro, who is responsible for implementing Leroy’s business plans and strategies for the southern part of Nevada. Vaccaro became legendary a dozen years ago when as the head of sports betting for the Mirage Hotel/Casino he took the largest wager, $2.4 million, ever accepted by one of the state’s legal sports books.

In making the announcement of Andrews’ appointment, Vic Salerno, chairman and CEO of American Wagering, said, "Our service-oriented strategy depends on providing a convenient and competitive product to our customers. We are optimistic that the combination of Chris Andrews in northern Nevada and Jimmy Vaccaro in southern Nevada will grow the Leroy’s brand and solidify Leroy’s as the premier race and sports provider in the Nevada market."
