Ute Mountain Casino, in association with GSN, The Network for Games, will host the second of three qualifying blackjack tournaments that could bring a lucky player a chunk of the $1 million prize pool.

The Ute Mountain blackjack tournaments on Jan. 6-7 and Jan. 20-21 require a $100 buy-in, with each winner gaining a seat at the World Series of Blackjack 2006, to be held in Las Vegas later this spring.

Patricia M. Nicholas of Durango, Colorado was the first of three winners who will travel to the World Series from Colorado.

Nicholas has one of the 40 seats in the World Series of Blackjack, which will be taped for viewing on the Game Show Network.

Not only do Ute Mountain players compete for a seat in the big tourney, they are vying for a local prize pool of $10,000. First place will be worth about $3,150.

The World Series features a prize pool of $1,000,000, with more than $500,000 going to the grand prize winner.

In addition to hosting the blackjack tournament, Ute Mountain Casino offers a large variety of slot machines and table games with blackjack being one of its most popular card games.
