On Thursday, Hotel San Remo sheds its distinguished Southern Riviera image for well-stuffed white T-shirts and orange bowties as Hooters Casino Hotel begins its incarnation on east Tropicana, across from the MGM Grand.

The transition to the world’s first Hooters hotel has been ongoing for about a year, but official festivities kick off with orange fireworks on Thursday followed by four days of celebration.

Also on Thursday, NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino and TV super goddess Brooke Burke from "Dog Eat Dog" will be on hand for a special grand opening party.

Those two celebrities will join Cindy Margolis, Gene Simmons and other guests for a celebrity blackjack tournament on Friday, and on Saturday the public is invited to a pool party and pig roast.

Sports fans on Saturday can get a preview of the Super Bowl as Wayne Allen Root and other ssports VIPs will discuss the game at 3 p.m. inside Porch Dogs bar.

Later on Saturday evening, 40 Hooters calendar girls will meet and greet the public in an autograph session at 13 Martini Bar beginning at 7 p.m.

On Super Bowl Sunday, fans can enjoy the game on plasma TV screens in the casino. Throughout the weekend, more than 200 Hooters Girls will greet guests throughout the casino.

Among the new venues to open in the renovated hotel is a Hooters Restaurant, which specializes in its famous chicken wings; Dan Marino’s Fine Food and Spirits, an upscale steakhouse that serves first-rate American cuisine; the Bait Shoppe, a sushi bar and gourmet food café; Porch Dogs, a Caribbean-themed casual indoor/outdoor club that offers music and cocktails; the 13 Martini Bar, a retro martini lounge featuring live music and nightly entertainment; Pete & Shorty’s Book and Bar, a casual Midwestern-style restaurant and bar featuring a sports book and poker room; a 24-hour café called the Dam Restaurant and a buffet called the Owl’s Nest Café.

In addition to the new dining and entertainment venues, the Hooters hotel will feature 696 newly remodeled guest rooms with "Hooterized" décor.

The 30,000-square-foot casino, which previously featured an elegant, chandeliered European theme, has been transformed into a playful Hooters room with 670 state-of-the-art slot and video gaming machines and 32 table games.

To help display the Hooters Girl assets, the pool area has been transformed into a tropical village with sandy beach, palm trees, lagoon-style waterfall, cabanas and a poolside bar.

Rounding out the hotel amenities is a Hooters retail store that will sell Hooters brand merchandise so customers can don well-endowed T-shirts of their own.
