Promotions for Lupo, others

Joe Lupo, who spent several years toiling in the race and sports books of Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD) Las Vegas properties before moving to Atlantic City, was one of six executives elevated to new Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa positions by the parent company.

Lupo, who became nationally known through his work in the Stardust race and sports book, moves up to senior vice president of operations with responsibilities involving nearly every function within Atlantic City’s largest and most successful facility.

Others named to new posts were:

Larry Mullin, president and chief operating officer succeeding Bob Boughner who left to head the development of Boyd Gaming’s $4 billion Echelon Resorts in Las Vegas.

Auggie Cipollini, senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

Tom Balance, senior vice president of development.

Chris Rynkiewicz, director of finance.

Hugh Turner, head of property finance functions.

Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. (HET) has announced that Tom O’Donnell, former senior vice president and general of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel in North Carolina, has been promoted to regional president of the Gulf Coast Region.

O’Donnell succeeds John Payne who moves to the presidency of the company’s Atlantic City Region.

Replacing O’Donnell in North Carolina will be Darold Londo, who will leave his post as vice president of casino operations at Harrah’s Atlantic City.
