Las Vegas may one day host a Super Bowl, but for now this is the best place in the country to watch and celebrate the nation’s premier sports event. Yes, even better than the yearly site, which in 2006 is Detroit.
Hooters waited until Super Bowl weekend to open its brand new casino resort — the former San Remo adjacent to the Tropicana. El Cortez is the place to be downtown for SB 40. Palms and Luxor are publicizing their Super Bowl festivities, while a number of other Las Vegas Strip and suburban resorts are taking a more private approach to their activities.
Numerous sports bars, such as PT’s will be having contests, while countless businesses can be expected to produce their fair share of office pools and outings that go with any Super Bowl.
InsiderVLV.com lists 19 NFL teams represented in Las Vegas sports bars, including the AFC runnerup Denver Broncos with five. The AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers have one (Bob Taylor’s Ranch House, 6250 Rio Vista St.).
The Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings have the most representation in Vegas with six bars. NFC champion Seattle, however, has none. Maybe that will change as the Seahawks play the biggest game in franchise history.
