Three aging downtown eyesores — Hotel Nevada, Queen of Hearts motel and Ambassador East motel — will soon be shuttered and possibly demolished.
The owner of the properties, the Tamares Group, has sought bids from demolition companies, but so far no demolition permits have been filed with the city of Las Vegas.
"Those three will be closed, but there is no decision yet as to what will happen to them," said Larry Woolf, CEO of the Navegante Group, which manages the downtown holdings for Tamares.
In addition to the three non-gaming properties, Tamares owns the Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Gold Spike and Western Hotel.
In a move that appeared to reflect a dissatisfaction in how the properties were managed, Tamares in December terminated Barrick Gaming as the operator of the properties and hired Navegante.
