of food bargains

Player’s Circle members at Nevada Palace will find great food specials this month at the Boulder Café. Show your player’s card (free to join) to the server and select from a $4.99 shrimp dinner or a $4.99 barbecue rib dinner. They are also featuring a 2-for-1 lasagna dinner for $4.99!

Buffet changes are in the works for several casinos. The All American Buffet at Silverton is currently closed in anticipation of the new upscale "Seasons Buffet" scheduled to open April 6.

The Palms Fantasy Market Buffet remains open but has been temporarily downsized while they work on renovating the buffet.

Take a stroll through Harrah’s Carnaval Court area (outdoors between the Imperial Palace and Harrah’s) and look for pretty showgirls handing out discount coupons, usually for Harrah’s new Flavors Buffet, the Rio’s Carnival World Buffet or show discounts.

The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower recently opened Naga Sushi & Asian Bistro in the site formerly occupied by Hamada Asian Village. The contemporary restaurant features a diverse menu of Asian cuisine. Naga features a traditional sushi bar menu expanded to include a variety of Asian dishes. The sushi bar features nigiri sushi, sashimi, cut & hand rolls, as well as specialty rolls.

The Asian menu features appetizers including Imperial Spring Rolls (steamed rice paper stuffed with tofu, vegetables and egg, served with tamarind sauce) for $6.95 and Dragon Spare Ribs for $6.95. Traditional noodle soup dishes include Won Ton Noodle Soup for $8.95 and Tom Yun Goong for $15.95.

Specialty entrees include Mongolian Beef, Clams in Black Bean Sauce and Dungeness Crab. Rice dishes include Roast Duck on steamed rice for $8.25 and barbecue pork on steamed rice for $7.95. Naga features a 14-seat sushi bar along with a main dining room and patio seating. Asian art works in a variety of media surround the room. The restaurant is open daily from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m.

Beginning this week, New York, New York’s roller coaster ride, Manhattan Express, will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the roller coaster will operate from 10:30 a.m. to midnight. Single ride passes are available for $12.50. Re-ride passes can be purchased for the reduced admission of $6. each. All-day Scream Passes are available for $25 while Family Fun "Flight-for-Four" packages including admission for four and two 5 x 7 souvenir photos can be purchased for $49.99.
