Maureen Serio’s loyalty to the Cannery Casino and Hotel paid off in a big way last Wednesday evening when she won a $1,037,613 MegaJackpot on a dollar Wheel of Fortune slot machine.

The 48-year-old storage company owner said she was planning to cash her winnings at $100 just before she hit the top prize. When she realized she won the MegaJackpot, Serio said, "I was shaking, I just didn’t believe it."

The lucky winner, who plans to use some of her earnings towards the new business she just purchased, had high praise for the North Las Vegas casino. "I always come to the Cannery. It’s my favorite place, the people are great."

The jackpot marks the second MegaJackpots prize awarded at The Cannery in recent months. Last September, 92-year-old Elmer Sherwin won a $21,147,947 Megabucks jackpot, making him the first person in the history of Megabucks to win the top award twice. He won his first Megabucks prize of $4.6 million at The Mirage in 1989.

Based on the world’s most popular game show, Wheel of Fortune is a Nevada MegaJackpots system operated by IGT. All IGT MegaJackpots top awards are paid in annual installments upon verification, except MegaJackpots Instant Winners Jackpots and Rapid Riches MegaJackpots awards, which are paid in their entirety upon verification.
