The new poker room at Red Rock Casino is expected to be an instant hit with players. The reason? It has what they want in a player-friendly environment.

"We have everything the poker player could ask for," said poker room manager Mike Doe. "Besides that, we’re the only poker room out here."

Indeed, the poker room has all the modern conveniences, and then some. There are about 20 tables, all equipped with built-in shufflers and electronic card readers for Boarding Pass members.

There’s also a high-tech registration system so players can sign up for a game by simply swiping a Boarding Pass card in a kiosk. ("If we get enough people for a game, we’ll open one," Doe said.)

The poker room is also equipped with a Bravo tracking system, plus pagers that are used to notify players when their seat becomes available.

Other creature comforts include men’s and ladies’ restrooms in the poker room, a convenience, especially for players prone to long stints at the tables.

There are also eight, 50-inch plasma TVs for easy viewing of sports and other events, and easy access to the Turf Grill next door for quick bites or beverages.

Doe said the poker room will initially offer only cash games in the most popular configurations: Hold’em, both limit and no limit, $2-$5, $4-$8 and $5-$10, plus other games depending on the demand.

He said Stations is evaluating whether to offer "sit and go’s," or single table tournaments.
