In two weeks, Global Gaming Expo (G2E) will host the first ever G2E Institute, a narrowly focused, educational conference featuring interactive, workshop-style sessions on specific gaming industry topics.

The May 9-11 conference will be held at the newly-opened Red Rock Resort, Spa and Casino in Las Vegas.

This inaugural edition of the G2E Institute will offer 17 sessions covering the industry’s hottest topics, ranging from innovations in digital casino games and the rise of gaming in Asian markets to revitalizing racetracks through gaming and applying "green building" principles and technologies at casino properties.

Additionally, in keeping with its commitment to complement education with practical technology applications, it will debut an RFID-based registrant tracking program that will allow attendees to experience the technology first-hand.

Specifically, every attendee will be issued an RFID-equipped registration badge that will automatically award points as they visit sponsor booths and participate in specialized networking events. The points can then be redeemed for products donated by event sponsors at an e-auction during the conference.

The latest uses for radio frequency identification (RFID) technology in gaming operations also will be featured in a workshop-style session at the event.

"G2E Institute was created to focus on the hottest gaming industry trends through the use of interactive workshop-style sessions and this first conference lives up to that promise," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. "We are proud to bring our attendees a unique, first-hand perspective on the key growth sectors, major industry trends and innovative technologies that will drive the next generation of global gaming."

G2E Institute’s daily keynote sessions will include When Bad Things Happen to Good Industries: Turning a Negative into a Positive, which will examine crisis management and how its successful — or unsuccessful — implementation can affect business, and The Wrath of Katrina: Reconstruction of the Gulf Coast.

The Institute’s hands-on educational offerings also include exclusive property tours of the Red Rock Resort, Spa & Casino that will allow attendees to investigate the design, layout, management and operation of a property that is shaking up traditional ideas of casino design.

The latest trends and issues in casino design also will be examined in sessions such as Building Green: What Makes Sense; Racino Design: Cosmetic Fix or Construction Overhaul; Liquid Lights: Using Lighting to Create Illusion; Meeting of the Minds: How to Achieve Synergy Among Designers, Architects and Operators.

The technology used in the RFID-enhanced registration badges, which will be provided by event enterprise software developer G2Planet, is just one of the many emerging technologies that also will be featured in the workshop-style conference sessions.

G2E Institute’s program includes sessions such as Tracking the Tables: New Innovations in RFID and CRM Technologies; The Next Generation: Digital Casino Games and Cutting Edge Technology; Loyalty Programs and Technology: The Latest Applications; Bells, Whistles & Warnings: The ”˜Safe’ Gaming Machine; and Server-Based Gaming: Regulatory Requirements and Market Demands.

Other featured sessions include a multi-session series discussing the State of the Indian Gaming Industry; Reviving Racing: How Gaming Can Be Used Most Effectively; Integrity Matters: Why State Officials Prefer Responsible and Rational Regulations; Getting the Word Out: Trends in Advertising and Casino Marketing; and The Asian Markets: Conquering Language and Cultural Barriers.

In a first-ever offering for a G2E event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the experience before the event even begins by using the G2E Institute Web site to submit questions to experts who will lead the workshop-style conference sessions.

"G2E Institute combines sessions led by experts in the industry’s key sectors, user-friendly and in-depth educational opportunities, and exclusive looks at the technology and design that are affecting the industry now and in the future into a unique, interactive educational platform," said Courtney Muller, show manager and industry vice president of G2E at Reed Exhibitions. "Nowhere else but G2E Institute offers industry professionals the comprehensive and trend-focused education they require for such an incredible value."
