Looking to beef up its management group and to reward those who have enhanced the current operation, the New York Racing Association announced several new appointments.
Bill Nader, who since joining NYRA in 1994 have taken on additional responsibilities from his original marketing duties — including those of the day-to-day racing operation, was elevated to the post of senior vice president/chief operating officer. He now becomes second in command to President Charles Hayward, former CEO of The Daily Racing Form.
Nader began his career in racing as a publicity assistant at Rockingham Park while he pursued his studies at the University of New Hampshire. Upon graduation, he joined the track full time and eventually became its publicity director. He was lured away when hired by NYRA.
Also promoted were: Ken Cook to vice president, security and John Tierney to vice president, facilities.
Joining the NYRA staff is John Ryan, who leaves a multi-million energy provider firm, to become senior vice president and chief administrative officer.
