Financier Carl Icahn has promoted Richard P. Brown to chief operating officer of Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower, Arizona Charlie’s West and Arizona Charlie’s East.
He was vice president of marketing for the properties.
In his new position, Brown will oversee daily operations, strategic planning and the expansion projects scheduled for the three gaming facilities.
"This next year will be a time of expansion for all three properties," Brown explained.
He said the Stratosphere expansion will be completed by mid-summer, doubling its size.
Arizona Charlie’s West is wrapping up a $3 million expansion. Arizona Charlie’s East will soon launch an expansion project.
Before joining Stratosphere, Brown held executive positions with Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. (HET) and the Hilton Corporation (HLT).
He also was an executive with the New York Racing Association before relocating to Las Vegas.
Long-time gaming executive Dean Harrold has resigned as president of Caesars Palace. The law firm led by prominent gaming attorney Frank Schreck has been restructured and will be known as Schreck, Brignone and Godfrey.
The firm operates from its law offices on the 11th and 12th floors of the Bank of America building in downtown Las Vegas.
Management of The Reserve Hotel/Casino in Henderson has elected to stay with corporate Ameristar Casinos Inc. (ASCA) following the Reserve’s sale to Station Casinos Inc. (STN).
Joining the corporate staff of Ameristar are former Reserve general manager Angie Baker and her assistants, Todd Stewart and Carolyn Dobbs.
David M. Dean has been promoted to executive vice president, law and administration, for Crescent Real Estate Equities Company. The company said that Jane Mody has joined the company as executive vice president of capital markets.
