Ownership of the Sahara Hotel & Casino on the Strip will stay in the hands of the Bennett family following the death of Lynn Bennett 10 days ago, a spokesman said last week.
The Sahara is owned by the Bennett family’s privately held Gordon Gaming Corp., and won’t change, said director of marketing Ron Garrett.
Al Hummel, chief executive of the property, will continue to run the operation, Garrett said.
Hummel is the brother of Bennett, who died in her home in Las Vegas on Sunday, Dec. 3. She was 64.
"It’s business as usual," Garrett said. "Our CEO is still our CEO. That’s not going to change. He is part of the Bennett family."
Bennett was the widow of Las Vegas gambling industry pioneer William Bennett and influenced management at the Sahara since his death four years ago.
Lynn Bennett was recognized for her philanthropy associated with the Bennett Foundation and was dedicated to animal rights.
