Specifically, Sona Mobile will develop a DRF-branded wireless portal that will allow racing fans to access, via cell phones and other wireless devices, real-time content from DRF publications.
Sona’s wireless application will provide horse racing fans with a modern and exciting interface for accessing racing news, editorial content, past performances and entry information for all North American tracks, as well as racing results, live odds, video clips, and more.
The DRF wireless portal will provide content on a subscription basis as well as a la carte. Users will also have free access to limited content with a goal to inspire repeat visits and promote the DRF brand.
"DRF provides 2,000 unique pages of statistical and editorial data to an annual circulation of 13 million, in as many as 25 daily editions," said Brent Diamond, president and CEO of the Daily Racing Form. "We feel that the logical next step for DRF is to add the convenience of wireless access and real time alerting to this wealth of information."
Under the terms of the agreement, the parties will share equally in the subscription, advertising and all other revenues generated by the mobile portal.
Sona will also receive the right to use DRF’s content on other wireless platforms allowing Sona to leverage the data across any wireless Account Wagering or Advanced Deposit Wagering system.
"The Daily Racing Form is an ideal candidate for Sona’s wireless platform given the breadth of their customer base and the extent and quality of their horse racing content," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sona Mobile, Shawn Kreloff. "We believe that DRF’s content, delivered to cell phones and other wireless devices, coupled with live racing video, and real time track, race, and odds alert information, is a perfect application for the racing enthusiast."
