Rarified Air for 17-1 Force

And then there were none.

Maryland took care of Clemson, nobody’s choice as the final team that would stay unbeaten. Now we’ll see what kind of character Oliver Pernell’s squad has when UNC comes calling.

Air Force has never been 17-1 in school history until now, but the Falcons are not covering as favorites. The Las Vegas lines have caught up to the Flyboys, losers of four straight against the number. All four matchups had the Force at least a 7-point chalk.

What a week for Virginia Tech! An upset victory at Duke and then following with a home victory over No. 1 ranked North Carolina. What can the Hokies do for an encore? Just keep winning at home (9-1) and covering as an underdog (2-0).

Congrats go out to Missouri State, one of our wins last week. We said State was a sleeping giant, but 52 over Evansville! Then they get slapped by 20 at Southern Illinois as a 2-point dog. Wow!

Off another solid week, we push forward.

Kentucky at S.C: The Wildcats are 14-3, but 1-3 vs. the top 50. Not to worry. The Gamecocks are 108 in the Sagarin and off blowout home losses to Kansas and Florida. This could be ugly TV. UNDER.

UNC at Clemson: A combined 32-3, but each coming off a loss. It’s huge for Tigers, who are unbeaten at Littlejohn. CLEMSON.

Illinois at Minnesota: It’s tough to win on the road in the Big Ten and Illinois was 0-3 vs top 50. Like S.C., the Gophers are in the 100s, but should rise up here. MINNY.

Notre Dame at Villanova: I think it’s an easier decision to just sit back and watch two talented teams score. Could see 170 points combined and the game come down to the final shot. OVER.

Iona at Canisius: Our ”˜weakly’ visit to the Metro Atlantic. The Gaels are winless and 1-11 ATS, yet we think the bubble bursts here. Canisius 1-5 ATS at home, 0-5 as a favorite. IONA.

Arizona at USC: The Trojans came within a point of UCLA at home. Bad news for Lute. USC.

W.Forest at Duke: The Deacons are not as good as in past years. Duke sliding a bit, but Coach K should recover nicely in this spot. Look for a rout. DUKE.

Stanford at Oregon: Cardinal on a nice 7-2 ATS run in board games, including wins at Virginia and home vs. Wash State. Ducks 1-3 ATS in last four and may be a double-digit favorite in Eugene. STANFORD.

Georgetown at Seton Hall: Could be nice Friday night surprise in Jersey. The Hall off a solid home victory against St. John’s. A feeling Hoyas come into this one a bit flat. SETON HALL.

Kansas at Tex Tech: Jayhawks were 2-0 vs. top 25 and 4-0 facing top 50. Upset Saturday, so expect the General to have Red Raiders fired up in Lubbock. Look for a strong effort on D. UNDER.

Georgia at Alabama: Dawgs are capable, but the Tide are a 40-minute load. They can really hit the glass. Not willing to go against Bama in Tuscaloosa. BAMA.

N’western at Minn: Here is where Minnesota mediocrity rises up. Northwestern is a nice play in Twin Cities with points. NW.

LSU at Arkansas: Our money is on Baby Davis and protective girdle coming up Big. Tigers should take this one down to the wire. LSU.

Wyoming at Utah: Cowboys off an impressive week with a home win over UNLV and heart-breaking loss to Air Force in final second. But this is not Laramie. Reality bites back even if Utes are just 5-12. UTAH.

Memphis at E.Carolina: The Tigers came up with strong effort last week at Houston. Calipari toys with 2-10 Pirates. MEMPHIS.

Rutgers at PC: Basketball not on par with great football season at Rutgers. Friars 12-1 at home and 7-1 SU as a favorite. PC.
