Hilton signals new
dawn for Matt Dusk

Last week one of the great events took place at the Las Vegas Hilton. The wonderful young marketing genius, Ryan Smith, and Ira Sternberg introduced the second CD of crooner Matt Dusk.

Do you all remember him from the Golden Nugget and from the Casino

television reality show from the downtown hotel that was on A&E? Dusk and his management team had a red carpet, champagne, great food and cake to relaunch Matt’s career. At the event there was the fabulous, incredible, diva and star, Phyllis McGuire. David Hasselhoff was there looking tall and handsome. He is starring in "The Producers" and may sign on for a longer stay. Robin Leach was there and my God, there was Frank Marino in a dress shooting his reality TV show. He left the "happening" 20 minutes after he arrived. Sham. Sham. Disruptions. Disruptions. All in all, Dusk, wearing a great suit, fabulous shoes and red socks talked about how grateful he is to the Hilton, the Golden Nugget and his new management team.

We have all been talking about Michael Jackson. Is there a Jackson family reunion tour? All we really know is that Michael Jackson had reportedly done some recording at the Palms’ Recording Studio and that there is no tour in sight. There is no venue in Las Vegas. We all know that he lives here now to be close to his family and new management team. We all have to say that Michael is one of the world’s greatest entertainers, but can he find a home here, like a showroom? Maybe he should build his own theater.

On the other hand, Brittany Spears, rumors are flying that the Palms is ready to sign her for a steady deal, now that she is out of rehab and her hair is growing. Brittany, as I see it, will always make a comeback. She will be at The Pearl in the Palms.

So many great acts appearing around town. At the Venetian, do not miss Wayne Brady. At the New York New York, the fabulous Roseanne Barr. At the Sahara we just got word that the Amazing Jonathan is in need of a heart transplant. The countdown for the Scintas to find a new place is about to happen. Liza Minnelli has left the building. Let’s not miss LeeAnn Rimes at the Luxor, the last act before they close the showroom and refurbish for the Cirque/Criss Angel show. The Le Reve Theater is up-and-running at the Wynn. "Spamalot" at the Wynn looks like a surefire hit.

I would like to announce that the Monti Rock, III TV show, Monti Live From Las Vegas and In Person, a reality show, has become a reality. It’s Hugh Hefner meets Monti Rock with showgirls, fashion and we are looking for a gorgeous co-hostess. So, if you are beautiful and tall and can read cue cards, you too can appear on Monti’s The American Idiot Show.

Barry Manilow is coming back to the Hilton. The countdown to Celine Dion’s finale continues. Again, Bette and Cher are going to share billing.

What is happening at Channel 3 News? All the people are being let go. Everyone is on pins and needles wondering who will be next.

Paige O’Hara, the star of "Menopause" at the Hilton, has a new CD and DVD on sale. Remember, she is the voice of Belle in "Beauty and the Beast."

George Wallace had Sly and the Family Stone at the Flamingo. This man is a friend to all the stars.

This week in Las Vegas, deals, refurbishing of theaters, and the Vegas Grand Prix. Did you go downtown to see the cars?

Las Vegas is hot, hot, hot. The Aladdin is almost ready to become Planet Hollywood. The name change takes place April 17! Great changes coming forth.

To my readers, don’t forget my 60th annual birthday party. Contact me at [email protected] if you want to audition for my TV show.
