Rangers hoping all season
to say, ‘It is Sosa!”

When you open 60/1 at Caesars to win the World Series and a better bet to finish last in AL West than first, the Texas Rangers looked for lightning in a bottle.

And, so was born the signing of Sammy Sosa. Yes, the same Sosa reportedly linked to that nagging steroids issue and basically vanished from the radar screen in 2006. In fact Sammy isn’t even entered in the 2007 Sporting News Baseball Register. Even, Jimmy Hoffa makes that publication.

Saturday night, Sosa hit his 589th career homer in an 8-4 win over Boston. The homer earned a curtain call, which is a start for a franchise that could use a hug. Sosa hasn’t been the player he was with the Cubs, but if there’s something left then Texas made the right move.
