Under my thumb, bad weather
turned luck to skill

Normally, I avoid betting the ”˜over / unders in baseball. They remind me too much of table games, where chance too often determines wins and losses.

It worked for a day

Unders were cashing an at amazing rate (17-3 between Wednesday and Thursday). I caught the back end Thursday and cashed 6-for-6 that night. I went back to it Friday and lost 5-of-6. Go figure!

Winter-like conditions in the Northeast and Midwest favor the pitching. Baseballs just don’t carry. Also, NL West has strong pitching and those teams are playing each other. For now, we say consider unders if posted totals stay at 9.

WEDNESDAY

Angels at A’s: Lackey is 10-2 lifetime vs A’s. Haren just 2-5 vs Angels. Road works. ANGELS.

Rangers at Chisox: Lefty Buehrle 8-3 vs Texas. SOX.

Twins at M’s: Hernandez off 1-hitter at Boston. Perhaps a little flat. Silva 3-1 vs M’s. UNDER.

THURSDAY

Cubs at Braves: Redman (12.96 ERA) pitching for his life in Atlanta. Rich Hill going for third straight win. CUBS.

SUNDAY

Yankees at Red Sox: Boston pitching in better shape for the series. NY bullpen under some stress. RED SOX.

Last week: 4-3.

Regular season: 8-4.
