Design and construction teams for the Red Rock Casino Resort took home an unprecedented eight of the 13 awards presented last week at the 2007 Casino Design Awards.

The Friedmutter Group received four of those awards, including 2007 Architectural Design Company of the Year for a Casino/Resort and the Sarno Lifetime Achievement Award, which this year was conferred upon the company’s founder and CEO, Brad Friedmutter.

The awards were presented during a luncheon at the Wyndham New Orleans at Canal Place as part of the Casino Design conference, a featured event at G2E Institute 2007.

"As the gaming entertainment industry continues to evolve and casinos continue to seek new and vibrant ways to differentiate themselves, the fields of casino design, construction and décor are growing increasingly more important," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. "The 2007 Casino Design Award winners represent the best of the best, and their efforts have helped shape the industry in the area of casino design."

The Casino Design Awards are the only awards that specifically recognize excellence in the design and development of casino resort properties. The awards are divided into five categories — lifetime achievement, interior design, landscaping design, architectural design and construction.

"Each year we see an incredible depth of talent in the Casino Design Award entries, and we are pleased to honor this year’s winners for their remarkable achievements," Fahrenkopf said. "Their work has transformed how we envision modern gaming resorts, creating unforgettable customer experiences at properties throughout the country."
