Strike the pose, expect a response at your nose

For the next 2½ months baseball takes center stage until football kicks up. And, there’s a lot going on.

Justin Verlander’s no-hitter as he hit 102 on the gun in the 9th. Then there’s A-Rod with 26 HR and ahead of Roger Maris’ pace when he hit 61. Plus Barry Bonds made his first appearance at Fenway Park and was booed louder than the Yankees.

But the absolute best was Dodgers pitcher Hong Chih Koo posing at the plate admiring his homer off the Mets John Maine that completed a back-to-back-to-back trilogy. Koo had 1 lifetime hit! Now that’s chutzpah. Then in Chicago. Alfonso Soriano struck the pose and then some after homering against Seattle. And, yes it sparked retaliation and a near brawl. Fights are good for baseball and it will trickle down to betting. The more interest, the more bets..

Twins at Mets: Oliver Perez off shutout of Yanks and Clemens. He’s been the glue. METS.

Yankees at Rocks: Career moment for lefty Jeff Francis, who could keep NY off-balance with breaking balls. ROCKIES.

Astros at Angels: LA gets to Wandy Rodriguez early. ANGELS.

Cubs at Rangers: Soriano set to deliver a HR against former team. Texas pitching stinks. CUBS.

Orioles at Padres: David Wells tough at Petco, but Bedard is a toughie. Runs scarce. UNDER.

Last week: 4-4.

Season: 57-33 (63.3%)
