Richard Earl Stewart, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, was attending and co-hosting a convention at The Orleans Hotel and Casino, when he hit a $402,848 Wheel of Fortune quarters MegaJackpot two weeks ago.

Stewart, a retired military veteran and current employee of the U.S. Postal Service, donates a portion of the money collected from the convention to the AIDS Foundation.

Prior to his big win, Stewart had played the same machine the night before, winning $20. He decided to revisit the same machine on his way out of town, and invested only $20 when the jackpot hit.

"I just sat there and stared for a minute," said Stewart. "I didn’t want to leave the machine so I asked the lady behind me to call the attendant."

With the winnings, Stewart plans to pay off his house and car, and make a trip to visit his son, who is in the armed forces.
