The third week of preseason football is here. Time flies when you’re having fun in Del Mar.

Thursday, Aug. 16

Dolphins NL at Chiefs (NT): Both teams make a quick five-day return to the trenches. The advantage goes to the Chiefs, who get home field and the big crowd. Also, this will be the first road game under new Fish HC Cam Cameron. CHIEFS.

Friday, Aug. 17

Well I will hit the big 60 on this day and I never lose on my birthday so you better take heed.

Panthers NL at Eagles (NT): Back to back road games for the Panthers. Philly is back with just four days rest. I will take a shot and just bet on this being a low score. UNDER.

Falcons +3 at Bills (34): Bills were 0-2 at home last year in preseason and would like nothing better than picking up a win for the starving hometown faithful. BILLS.

Titans -5½ at Patriots (35): Tennessee has a great preseason road record as a dog, going 8-1 in the last nine games and 10-3-1 on the road. TITANS.

Vikings +00 at Jets (00): I just don’t see much scoring in this game. Most fans won’t watch more than one quarter, so I will just figure on a low score. UNDER

Saturday, Aug. 18

Texans +00 at Cards (00): Houston is coming off a big home game against the Bears and just may be a little flat going into Arizona. Advantage Big Red. CARDINALS.

Lions +00 at Browns (00): Similar situation to Texans-Cards. The Browns get to stay home in Cleveland, a big edge. BROWNS.

Saints +00 at Bengals (00): Cincinnati is home after a high-scoring preseason opener at Detroit. I think Cincy needs to put up a win for the hometown fans. A loss to the Saints won’t go over well in the Queen City. BENGALS.

Bucs +00 at Jaguars (00): We’re inclined to take the points in this game. Tampa Bay is still QB hunting. BUCS.

Steelers +00 at Redskins (00): I will stick with the Steelers, who should play some big time defense in Washington. STEELERS, UNDER.

Chargers +00 at Rams (00): Now this game should be worth watching. Both teams look to make a statement so you just may see more scoring than the norm. CHARGERS, OVER.

Broncos +00 at Cowboys (00): I love Denver in this spot with the "Pokes" coming off the prime time matchup last week against the world champions Indianapolis Colts. BRONCOS.

Seahawks +00 at Packers (00): Second of back-to-back road contests for the Seahawks, who are coming off a Sunday night national TV game against San Diego. Green Bay returns from "the Burgh" looking to put up a win and slap some fans hands in the Lambeau endzone. PACKERS.

Raiders +00 at 49ers (00): These two will not play this year when the games count, but the Niners crushed the Raiders last year in regular season play 34-20. San Francisco will romp here in front of a friendlier crowd. 49ERS.

Sunday, Aug. 19

Giants +00 at Ravens (00): Second of back-to-back home games for the Ravens, who will put forth a big defensive effort. UNDER.

Monday, Aug. 20

Bears +00 at Colts (00): Will this be some kind of makeup game for the Bears fans or is good friend Tony Dungy going to call off the dogs and give Lovie Smith a facial win? Nice conspiracy theory. You just never know, but I believe the friendship will be discussed all week on ESPN. Yes, the talking heads will have a field day with this one. It’s just another game, or is it? A tiny bit of revenge for Chicago. BEST BET: BEARS.

Last week: 0-0

Preseason: 0-0
