At Del Mar last week, good friend and a top East Coast football handicapper Paul Brynski gave me his two best Week 1 games.

Paul is not a tout, but actually bets his own money. I usually note his choices and make a little lay down of my own.

Here’s an early college Week 1 look.

Thursday, Aug. 30

LSU -17 at Miss St: Mr. B said the Tigers should win by three TDs. Once ahead, they won’t let up. LSU.

Friday, Aug. 31

Navy -21 at Temple: Another blowout. A nice two-team parlay with LSU to start the season with a bang. NAVY.

NFL pre-Week 3

Thursday, Aug. 23

Jags -1½ at Packers (39): Both had big offensive efforts last week. the Buccaneers 31-19 and the Packers beat up on the Seahawks 48-13. You won’t see Green Bay scoring 48 this week. Jags 7-2 ATS away under Del Rio. JAGS.

Saints PK at Chiefs (37½: KC coach Herm Edwards not happy with Chiefs’ 22 points in two starts. Look for top effort here. CHIEFS

Friday, Aug. 24

Titans +1 at Bills (35): Titans super on road in preseason, now 9-1 as a dog and 11-3-1 SU. No reason that streak will stop here. TITANS.

Pats PK at Panthers (38): Pats used to be gold in preseason, but not in last few years. Carolina 5-1 after a straight up loss. PANTHERS.

Rams PK at Raiders (38): Both will air the ball out. OVER.

Saturday, Aug. 25

Lions NL at Colts: Indy off Monday bash with Bears and may not show much interest. LIONS.

Bucs PK at Dolphins (34): Somehow the Fish are 2-0 after two 1-point wins. TB 1-1 after getting hammered at Jacksonville 31-19. Looks to be a close game. BUCS.

Cowboys -2 at Texans (39): Houston is 5-0-1 in preseason under HC Kubiak. Even with Son of Bum having Cowboys playing great, I do believe there is more inspiration for the Houston. TEXANS

Ravens -3 at Skins (32): The Baltimore defense will shut down the Skins and win easily. Ravens allowed just 16 points in preseason. RAVENS, UNDER.

Jets PK at Giants (37): This will be a good game as they battle for the "Big Apple." The edgee is with Giants. HC Tom Coughlin loves to do well, as his 8-2 SU and ATS preseason record indicates. GIANTS

49ers NL at Bears: Chicago is coming off their Super Bowl rematch against the Colts, Niners are 7-3 ATS in preseason under third year HC Nolan. 49ERS.

Browns +7 at Broncos (37): Browns good preseason dog under HC Crennel, but must side with Shanahan crew. Mile High altitude, rousing Denver crowd dominate. BRONCOS (BEST BET).

Vikings +8 at Seahawks (38): Seattle humiliated this past week at Green Bay. Look for a wake up call in home opener. SEAHAWKS

Chargers -2½ at Cards (40½): Both teams should open things up. Cards have a deep QB unit and good WRs. OVER.

Sunday, Aug. 26

Eagles +2 at Steelers (36): Look for both defenses to come out strong in NBC televised battle. New Pittsburgh HC Tomlin wants to win in front of the Steel City faithful. STEELERS, UNDER.

Monday, Aug. 27

Bengals -3 at Falcons (38): Saints marched into Cincy and took it to Bengals. Here on Monday Night Football, Cincy rises to the occasion. BENGALS.

Last week: 8-8.

Preseason record: 17-20

Steubenville note:

Thursday, the Big Red plays cross city rival Wintersville for a third straight Ohio state high school football title. Steubenville looks to be 31-0 in regular season play.

I’ll keep all the Steubenville fans in Vegas posted as long as the streak continues. Roll Red, roll!
