LSU our choice as ‘bet-on’ team this season

In betting any sport, sometimes you need to get on teams and stay with them. They can get the money most of the year. Same with teams you wagers against.

LSU is a team we think is a "bet-on" most every week. The Tigers have a defense that can wreck havoc on most offenses. Penn State may be a play with the Lions playing for Jo Pa, who could retire after this year. If you’re looking for lousy, try Syracuse. The Orange have played heartless in their first two games.

Last week was a disappointment in college, but thankfully LSU was my Best Bet. The wager came late in the day and helped recoup my early losses. The NFL was good (3-1) except for the one second half TD by the Browns that put the game OVER.

Now for this week.

Saturday, Sept. 15

College Football

Illinois -12 at Syracuse: This line should give a little hint on how bad the Orangemen are. I’ll take a shot with the Illini, who have some revenge in their mind from last year’s 31-21 loss. ILLINOIS.

Miss St +13 at Auburn: Tigers reeling after home loss last week to South Florida and can ill afford to look past State. Look for Auburn’s defense to play big time. AUBURN.

Toledo +22 at Kansas: In the opener, Toledo gave up 52 to Purdue and in Game 2 scored 52 against Central Michigan. Now in back-to-back road games, the Rockets visit a Kansas. The Jayhawks lost last year’s matchup in OT, 37-31. Kansas hammered Central Michigan 52-7 at home. Lay the wood before the line hits 24. BEST BET, KANSAS.

Tenn +8 at Florida: Playing at Cal and at Florida in the first three games! Now that’s a mighty tough schedule. Meanwhile, the Gators have chewed up on W. Kentucky and Troy. A good lay down bet. Vols have a strong shot at not only the cover, but a straight up win. TENN.

N.Dame +9½ at Michigan: Both teams enter this game 0-2. I can’t separate the less of the two evils. At least the Irish were competitive at Penn State last week. Michigan put its tail between Oregon’s legs and got lambasted. The dog in this matchup is 16-3-1 ATS. Stay the course. ND.

UCLA -13 ½ at Utah: The Bruins look for real and Utah appears to have little or no offense, getting 7 against Oregon St and 12 spot at home against Air Force. The Bruins "D" should take control and repeat what they did against the Utes last year in a 31-10 win. UCLA.

Akron +13 at Indiana: The Zips defense played great last week at Ohio State, but the offense only managed a safety despite forcing several Buckeyes turnovers. Akron did muster 22 against Army in Game 1. Indiana has shown some offense against weaker opponents, scoring 55 against Indiana State and 37 vs Western Michigan. Also, Zips may be banged up. INDIANA.

Houston -14 at Tulane: Houston put up 27 at Oregon in Game 1 and could get 50 here. If Mississippi State could score 38 against Tulane, then Houston should get twice that many. HOUSTON.

Louisville -7 at Kentucky: Best shot since ’02 for Kentucky to get a straight up win here. Kentucky scored 50 and 56 in its first two games. The Cards put up 73 and 58. If the total is UNDER 80, I will take a shot with the OVER. But I like the Wildcats and Tennessee in a money line parlay. KENTUCKY.

SD St +27½ at Ariz St: Love these late games. Arizona State beat San Jose State 45-3, then came right back and beat Colorado 33-14 as a -15 point chalk. San Diego State got hammered by Washington State in its opener 45-17. Now the Aztecs must travel and play a night game in the Tempe heat. ASU can name the score. The Sun Devils won’t be looking ahead. ARIZONA ST.

Last week: 4-7

Season 10-8, BB 2-0

Now to the NFL.

Sunday, Sept. 16

Bengals NL at Browns: The Steelers exposed Cleveland as being without a QB coming away with an easy 34-7 win. Cincy has owned the Browns, going 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS last five meetings. BENGALS

Falcons +10 at Jaguars: Falcons could only come up with a field goal at Minnesota and looked awful. It won’t get any better having to go into Jacksonville, where the home team is off a loss to Tennessee. JAGUARS.

Jets NL at Ravens: Jets got crushed last week at home by the Pats, giving up 38 points. It won’t get any better this time around. Baltimore has gone 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS against the Jets last five meetings. RAVENS

Chiefs +12 at Bears: In preseason, KC scored 12-10-7-3 and opened with another 3 against Houston. Angry Bears back from San Diego will completely shut down the KC non offense. Two TD’s should net the cover. BEARS

Chargers +4 at Pats: The Steubenville Big Red is the half time feature. Talk about BIG time revenge. This has all the makings of a Super Bowl. Pats went into San Diego last year a 4½-point dog and knocked the Chargers out of the playoffs, 24-21. Now it will be the Chargers getting the points. CHARGERS.

Last week: 3-1

Regular season: 3-1

Steubenville kept rolling last week with an easy 42-0 win over East Liverpool. This week a real tough Buffalo St Joe will be rolling into town from upstate New York. Big Red now has won 33 in a row and 43 straight in the regular season over two years.

This game could come down to the wire. ROLL RED ROLL!
