Two weeks to go before the playoffs and you can pretty much pencil in the AL teams.

Boston, the LA Angels and Cleveland appeared headed for postseason. That leaves the Wild Card chase between Detroit and the Yankees. Seattle still has a chance, but the M’s have hit the skids ever since getting swept at home a month ago by the Los Angeles Angels.

It’s a little more complicated in the NL, where there are six teams within 5½ of each other in the Wild Card.

For now, here’s what we think are the best midweek plays.

Wednesday, Sept. 19

Dodgers at Rockies: Tough to go against the Dodgers and Brad Penny, a phenomenal 12-2 lifetime against Colorado. Josh Fogg has been a nice surprise for the Rockies, but is just 2-5 against the Dodgers. LA.

Tigers at Indians: Cleveland ace C.C. Sabathia scheduled to start. The big left-hander is 17-7 overall, 12-8 lifetime vs Detroit. Nate Robertson (8-11, 2-4) has struggled. CLEVELAND.

D’Rays at Angels: James Shields is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA in his last 3 starts. Bartolo Colon continues to try to find his old form, fighting injury problems. Colon is 9-2 against TB, but he’s not the same. Bet this one for 5 innings. TAMPA BAY.

Thursday, Sept. 20

Mets at Marlins: There will be plenty of fan support at Marlins Stadium for Amazins, who send out ageless lefty Tom Glavine. He’s 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in last three starts. Marlins have struggled at home. NY.
