I hear back East it was beautiful last weekend with all the leaves on the tress changing color and dropping to the ground.
I loved this time of year when I was young except for having to rake all those leaves in the front and back yard and put them in big garbage cans. Sometimes we would even make a little fire and burn them.
It was also a beautiful fall day in Las Vegas. No leaves, but if players were trees their money didn’t change color — just changed hands. The books just raked in all the cash. In some places they had to order extra rakes. I was in a book on Sunday and after the Steelers went down, not a soul was left. There were four writers waiting for players to bet the late game, but all the leaves had already been raked.
Last week I wrote about how some books would take games that moved several points off the parlay cards. This week there were several that struck me, like the East Carolina/Houston contest. Houston opened -10 and after Dr. Bob released it as one of his better plays, it moved to -14. Most places took it off their parlay cards. Those that left it on raked in all the profits as East Caro won outright.
Dr. Bob’s record for the last two weeks is 5-14! Now I can’t be one to brag as "The Boob" will be on the other foot this week. My college picks went completely bust with only one winner and that was from my good friend Mr. Sid Diamond. I did however regroup and go 6-2 in the NFL but I will still carry the moniker of "Richard the Boob" this week.
Just a few quick thoughts before we try and regroup with the colleges this week.
I thought the Eagles would have learned a lesson after scoring 56 points the previous week wearing the puke uniforms. They went back to the regular green and white uniforms and scored only a field goal in their 16-3 Sunday night loss to the NY Giants
And what turmoil the Chargers and Bears are in! Maybe next week San Diego will bring back ole what’s his name and the Bears may go deeper in their QB depth chart. The Bears big D gave up 37 and the Chargers defense gave up 30 at home to the offensive less Chiefs.

Cincy +3 at Rutgers: I wish I would have stayed with the Bearcats last week as they continued to roll with a 52-23 win at San Diego St. At first glance I really liked Rutgers in a big revenge mode since Cincy put it to them last year. I will have to stay with the red hot Bearcats who I believe are this good. CINCY.
Minnesota +13 at Indiana: I will go with the revenge as Indiana got crushed last year in Minnesota 63-26 and now has the guns to return the favor. IU coming off big confidence building win at Iowa last week. INDIANA.
Tulane +6½ at Army: Best chance in a while for Army to get a win off Tulane. The Green is very light on offense and may be a tad beat up after grueling game last week against rival LSU. Army off nice 37-21 win over Temple last week. Can get the money here if they play a turnover free game. ARMY.
Okla St +6 at Texas A&M: Last home game for A&M before they hit the road for the next four out of five games. Aggies would like to be 5-1 before the big road trip. BEST BET: A&M.
Kansas +3 at Kansas St: This looks like a real good game to bet on. K-State may still be celebrating its big 41-21 win at Texas last week. KU had the week off to prepare for the trip to Manahattan. Kansas is 4-0 SU and 3-0 ATS so far this year while averaging 53.5 points a game. KANSAS.
Florida +8 at LSU: The Gators got exposed by Auburn last week losing at home 20-17 as an 18 point favorite. LSU was in cruise control with 30-9 win over Tulane and now gets revenge and a night game. My LSU scout Syl Friedman tells me they have been waiting all year for this game. The stadium will be rocking and the defense is so fired up. He said go to the bank and empty out. Only problem is the leaves have already been racked from last week. I may float a loan. BEST BET: LSU.
Troy -19 at Fla Intl: Sid Diamond told me to stick with Troy especially this week playing FIU, which is 0-5 SU and averaging a measly 5.6 points per game. TROY.
Sunday, Oct. 7
Cards -2 at Rams: Must stay with hot Cardinals, who are 4-0 ATS so far this year. The Rams have failed to cover a game with all going UNDER the total. Rams averaging less than 10 per game. CARDS/UNDER.
Bears +3 at Packers: Bears looked in total disarray in last week’s 37-27 loss to Detroit. The Pack is really back and Brett Favre is playing like he was 30. The defense just looks awesome. Packers are 4-0 both SU / ATS and now get to show their wears on national television. PACKERS.
BIG RED UPDATE
The "Red" kept rolling with a big 23-14 win over previously undefeated Columbus Watterson in the Ohio high school game of the week. Just four more wins this year for another perfect regular season.
