LAST WK BEST BET SEASON
8-2 0-1 24-31

Miami of Ohio 17, Syracuse 14!

I said last week that if Miami covered (-2½), it would prove just how silly this college football season is.

The defense rests.

The marquee game has now become defending national champ Florida at LSU, but the Gators are again playing for their season after being burned again at the Swamp by Auburn.

It would figure that in a year where I have struggled so much in picking winners, last week would wind up by far my best result. Still much work to do.

Games of Oct. 4-6

Kentucky +3½ at S.C: National exposure for Wildcats QB Andre Woodson. Gamecocks have a habit of losing in these spots. KENTUCKY.

Utah +14½ at Louisville : The Utes really don’t want to be in Louisville. One team can score, the other can’t. LOUISVILLE.

W.Virginia NL at Syracuse: Even though the Mounties lost at USF, the Mounties showed a championship heart and a lot of depth. Here’s their reward. WVU.

Vandy +8 at Auburn: The euphoria on the Plains following the huge upset at the Swamp turns into a fight against a hungry dog. Vandy has a real shot here. VANDY.

GT -2½ at Maryland: Same scenario here. Tech off home win over Clemson. Now must fight overconfidence heading to College Park, where Maryland sits off its of Rutgers. MARYLAND.

OU -10½ vs Texas at Dallas: Throw out last week. Sooners have too many weapons. OU.

Florida +8½ at LSU: What a game this should be. LSU will do to Gators what Auburn did, only with more talent and the home crowd. LSU.

Miami, FL -7½ at UNC: The Canes can’t score. Boy, how bad does former Miami coach Butch Davis want this. UNC.

USF -15½ at Fla Atlantic: South Florida now experiences life as a "have" and that means letdown. Schottenheimer can smell blood. FLA ATLANTIC.

Nebraska +6½ at Missouri: Huskers might be able to stay within number. NEBRASKA.

Minnesota +12 at Indiana: The Hoosiers are no slouch and catch Gophers off the emotional buildup last week for Ohio State. INDIANA.

Georgia +2 at Tennessee: I really like this spunk of these Dawgs, especially on the road. GEORGIA.

Houston +11 at Alabama: Could be closer than a lot of people think. Bama has no interest in a non-SEC game. HOUSTON.
