You might say he was a trans-Pacific, trans-continental $4 million mega-jackpot winner.

While vacationing in Las Vegas, Randal A. Teixeira from Pearl City, Hawaii hit the $4,070,743 Wheel of Fortune jackpot while playing a dollar machine last weekend at New York-New York.

The 48-year-old Teixeira frequently makes the Pacific crossing to vacation at the Las Vegas Strip casino. The newly-crowned millionaire said the winnings will enable him to retire from his current vocation of maintaining golf courses.

When asked about his good fortune, he said he knew that there was something special about the winning machine, adding that it actually "called him" to come play.

He didn’t say whether the machine beckoned in English or Native Hawaiian.

"I just can’t believe I won," said the excited Teixeira. "I was in total shock.

"I plan to buy my wife the home she has always wanted, make some investments and enjoy the winnings."

The lucky winner had invested merely $21 into the machine before hitting the top award.

Wheel of Fortune is one of numerous progressive jackpots from IGT. The top prize is paid in annual installments upon verification.
