Buckeyes keep staying course as No.1

This past weekend was a very exciting football weekend. The Buckeyes continued their run at the BCS title game with any one of four or five that are still in the hunt.

As for Ohio State their last two games are with a dangerous Illinois team and then arch rival Michigan. Then there was the big game between Oregon and previously unbeaten Arizona State, a game that the Ducks dominated.

If Oregon runs the table at Arizona, at UCLA and then beats Oregon State at home the Ducks should get a shot at the title game. However, I don’t control the BCS so we will have to wait and see. Kansas talking undefeated season and BCS title shot but even with a win this week, I doubt KU will be able to get past Missouri in its final game even though it is on a neutral field.

West Virginia has that one loss to South Florida and still has a slight shot but have to play Cincinnati away. That will be one tough game but if they win out they just may be able to sneak in. LSU wishes for another shot at Kentucky but will still have to beat a real good Arkansas team in the last game to have a shot. LSU has played a real tough schedule so I do think the Tigers have an in if they go 11-1.

As for the "Boob" of the week award well it’s a no brainer. I will have to give it to the entire Notre Dame coaching staff and team, which could not get the win at home over Navy. They had a shot at a winning filed goal toward the end, but went for it on fourth down. They said their field goal kicker who was hurt could only kick it around 20 yards.

You mean to tell me a team like Notre Dame has only one kicker? They could be a double "Boob" of the week if they fall to Air Force this week. Imagine the great Notre Dame losing at home back to back to Navy and Air Force and then they will have one last chance to get a win at home against Duke, Wow!. The "Gipper" is rolling over.

As for the Big Red they won their first playoff game and now will face Canton Central a team they just got by in regular season. They game will be played at the legendary Faucet Stadium in Canton, Ohio. They will likely get around 16,000 fans for this Ohio high school playoff game.

I like a ton of games this week as the college season which seems like it just started is winding down to its last few games. Time does fly when you are having fun.

Thursday, Nov. 8

TCU +7 at BYU: This looks like a real good Thursday matchup between two teams that appear to be very evenly matched, so the fact that TCU who is coming off a good game in which they shut out a good New Mexico team 37-0 is getting 7 points is enough for me to step up to the window and bet. TCU.

Saturday, Nov. 10

Indiana -1½ at Northwestern: The Hoosiers with six wins are Bowl eligible and would love to have an eight win season with a win here and then a win at home against Purdue in final game of the season. INDIANA.

Air Force -3 at Notre Dame: I know that there are a ton of loyal Irish fans out there and they must be livid but now they have to watch on National TV another possible humiliation if the Irish get beat this week and that looks like it will happen against the 7-3 Falcons. AIR FORCE.

Arkansas -1½ at Tenn: The Razorback offense has been in high gear and this game should really be a shoot out. I think there will be total put up and I would bet it over if they put one up. I do prefer Arkansas in this game and will take a little shot and lay the -1½ and go over the total. ARKANSAS/OVER.

Stanford +10 at Wash St: The Cardinal offense looks to have taken the rest of the season off as they have scored a total of 15 points in their last two games. Don’t see them getting many at the Cougars. WASH ST.

Minnesota +14 at Iowa: The Hawkeyes with a win here will go to 7-5 with their final game against Western Michigan and then on to a little Bowl game. Don’t see any reason that Iowa who is fresh off of two nice wins just wont put it too a down Minnesota team. BEST BET: IOWA.

Texas A&M +17 at Missouri: Missouri sitting with only one loss to Oklahoma wants to play on New Years day and look to run the table with three more wins. Missouri looking for revenge in this game and coming off a very impressive 55-10 win at Colorado. MISSOURI.

Illinois +14½ at Ohio St: The Fighting Illini with only three losses to Missouri 40-34, at Iowa 10-6 and Michigan 27-17 a game that was much closer then the score indicates, can play with anybody and only lost to the Buckeyes last year 17-10. Next week it’s Ohio State at Michigan so could the Buckeyes be looking ahead just a little to the biggest game on their schedule. I just love the points in this game, though I do think the Buckeyes will pull this game out late and get a hard fought victory. BEST BET: ILLINOIS.

Florida St +6 at Va Tech: VT should have beaten Boston College two weeks ago but now can get some redemption at home against Florida State who is fresh off upset win over BC. Look for the VT defense to completely shut down the Seminoles and get a big win for the hometown sell out crowd. VA TECH.

Kansas -5½ at Oklahoma St: KU 9-0 SU and ATS continues its unbelievable season but will have to beat a mad OK ST team that really gave it up last week giving up 24 points in the fourth quarter to Texas and blowing a 21 point lead. KANSAS.

UCF -20 ½ at UAB: Knights back on the beam with wins over Tulsa, Marshall and So Miss. Now take their high powered offense into Birmingham to face a UAB team that just has no offense. UCF.

USC -3 ½ at California: This is the season for the Cal Bears who will be all out in this game and try to get elusive win over USC after three straight losses. CAL.

Sunday, Nov. 11

Browns at Steelers: Browns continued their amazing streak of OVERS to eighth straight. First game at home against Pittsburgh the Browns lost 34-7 and the total was 34. It will be much higher this time around but I look for Cleveland to get at least three touchdowns this time. OVER.

Colts -3 at Chargers (49): Indy just gave it away to the Pats last week in a very high emotion game and now must head west and face a Chargers team that got hammered at Minnesota this past week. Chargers will re-group and come out strong. Doubt if Indianapolis can get fired up off of the loss to New England. CHARGERS.
