I just love the Christmas season. It’s always nice to get an early gift.

This year was no different, but the early gift I received we all received. With all the bad stuff happening like drugs and flat out bad behavior, the world of sports finally got a shot in the arm when Tim Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.

This almost never had a chance of happening. Tim may have never been born if it weren’t for his mother’s deep faith. The doctors advised her to have the baby aborted as there was a big chance of serious problems. Tim is now an adult and he and his family are all great roll models for the sports arena and all of us. Thanks to Mrs. Tebow and Tim. We will be wishing you well in the Capital One Bowl on New Years Day.

There was a huge fight in town this past week at the MGM Grand Garden as Floyd Mayweather Jr. outclassed previously unbeaten British opponent Ricky Hatton. There were little or no problems with this fight crowd. It was a first class event put on by the MGM-Mirage and our hats go off to them for a great job.

Each week it seems like the NFL keeps getting uglier. The good teams keep winning and the lousy teams keep getting worse. Such is the case with the Dolphins. I will bash them this week, which usually turns into a victory for the team that I ridicule so let’s see what happens.

Another worthless team is the 49ers. It amazes me how they ever beat the Cardinals three weeks ago. The Ravens have played few good games in their winless second half of the season, but they remain bad. The Panthers have managed one win since their off week back on Oct. 21 and that win was over hapless San Francisco.

You have to dig deep to find that the last time the Chiefs won a game was back in October, trouncing the Raiders 12-10. Since then, KC is 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS. Good job!

Back to the Dolphins: They are 0-13 but have three covers and four pushes ATS so at least they are trying. They just can’t break through.

Now lets make some picks for the upcoming week.

NFL

Saturday, Dec.15

Bengals -8 at 49ers: Laying eight points on the road with Cincinnati is just ludicrous. The Bengals were life and death to win 19-10 over the Rams, who have no QB. On the other side of the coin, the 49ers are 1-7 ATS and SU in their last eight games. BENGALS.

Sunday, Dec. 16

Ravens -4 at Dolphins: Both teams stink. This is another hard to believe line. The bookmakers have made the Ravens a four point favorite on the road. No way! Dolphins get first win of the season. DOLPHINS.

Packers -10½ at Rams: Again, no way! The Rams played with courage despite their QB problem and may have a shot at the cover, but not with my money. Mr. B (Brett Favre) is operating on all cylinders. PACKERS.

Jaguars +4 at Steelers: Big Ben and the Steelers just got ate up by the Pats after dumb player guaranteed a win. Stupid and more stupid. As I stated last week, teams have had a difficult time the following week after playing the Pats. That should continue here. JAGS.

Jets +24½ at Patriots: Another resounding no way! The Jets will show up in this game and get the cover. BEST BET: JETS.

Seahawks -7 at Panthers: The Seahawks stayed on their roll, blasting the Cards 42-21. They now have gone 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games as they stay sharp for the playoffs. SEAHAWKS.

I will also be using these teams on my parlay cards:

Titans -3, Colts -12½, Chargers -11, Giants -4½ and on Monday night the redhot Vikings -9.

Bowl games next week so stay tuned and have a great time at all the Christmas parties. If you get intoxicated, remember to call a cab or get a non drinker to drive you home. Don’t spoil Christmas for your family and for someone else’s.
