LAST WK NFL PCT
2-4 39-28-3  58.2

The NFL playoffs this past weekend featured some of the most exciting games I can remember.

Bodies were just flying all over the field with some of the most ferocious hitting that you can imagine. There were sure to be some hurting bodies on Monday, but for four teams it’s worth the pain. They move on to the conference championship games this Sunday.

The Seahawks just could not stop the Green Bay machine in a mini-blizzard as the Pack romped 42-20. The Pats, with a record- breaking performance by Tom Brady, ended the tough Jags bid by 11. It was another win for the undefeated Patriots, but another cover failure. The ever so smart book makers keep making the number in double digits and the Pats have managed just one cover in their last seven games. So take note.

On Sunday, the visiting dogs won outright in two very exciting games. The Giants are just playing great, making few mistakes as they look to be on a mission. You can’t take anything away from the Chargers as they really put it to the Colts.

After the Patriots game there was a guy sitting in a Vegas book with a ticket for $220 bucks at Pats -13. He shows the guy next to him the ticket and this is what transpired. The guys say there are four crazed football fans — a Colts fan, a Giants fan, a Steelers fan and a Patriots fan. They are climbing a mountain arguing about who loves his team the most.

The Colts fan insists he is the most loyal. This is for the Colts!’ he yells, and jumps off the side of the mountain. Not to be outdone, the Giants fan shouts, ”˜This is for the Giants!’ and throws himself off the mountain. The Steelers fan is next to profess his love for his team and we all know how Steelers fans are. He yells, ”˜This is for everyone!’ and pushes the Patriots fan off the mountain.

I was checking out lines on the computer last week and saw one of the offshore books had the Giants +9 (-121) and the Cowboys -9 (+113). Who did they want the bettors to take in this game? The Vegas line was Dallas -7½.

Looking at lines, there is a place called Wiseguys that is run by my former Stardust boss Scotty Schettler, which has the best updated lines you can find along with an ongoing contest Ultimate Wiseguy. Check it out at www.wiseguys.com.

Talking about wiseguys, what about the Station Casinos bookies catching the trifecta in the GamingToday Bookie Battle, finishing 1-2-4. They had to make big daddy Art very proud. He taught them well. Good job to all.

Here’s a look at Sunday’s league championship games with the winners headed to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Chargers +15 at Patriots (49): The Chargers got hammered 38-14 at New England in the second game of the season, but that was a very different Chargers team. This San Diego team has won and covered eight straight games. They look like they believe. New England has only one cover in the last seven games. This is a real no- brainer. The bookies have over-adjusted this line once again. A bargain. CHARGERS.

Giants +7 at Packers (42½): I am still trying to figure out how the Giants beat the Cowboys. Every time I looked up, Dallas had the ball. Snow or no snow, the Giants dream will end in Green Bay. The Vegas books will get their dream Super Bowl that could be a record-breaker handle-wise. Brett Favre and the Pack want this one in the worst way. PACKERS.
