Have you ever heard the saying: "Don’t believe everything you hear or read."? Or how about this one: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Well, in this column, we will dispel those myths, because we have gone out and tried the specials and invite you to do the same.

The Skyline Casino and Restaurant on Boulder Highway in Henderson is offering a 20-ounce Porterhouse steak special with an all-you-can-eat salad bar for the ridiculously low price of $3.95. This special is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Closer to town, the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino has a Texas T-bone special offered in the Monterey Room for just $7.95. The 16-ounce T-bone steak includes a delicious mixed green salad, cowboy beans, onion rings, potato wedges, garlic Texas toast, and to wash it all down, a frosty ice cold 12-ounce draft beer. This offer is good 24 hours a day; however, you must be 21 years old.

Café Siena, located in the Suncoast, offers a 16-ounce Porterhouse special served 24 hours a day for $9.95 which includes a choice of soup or salad, baked potato, vegetable and a 15-ounce draft beer.

The Orleans has some nice graveyard specials served from 11 p.m.-6 a.m. in the Courtyard Café. The pancake sandwich has two huge buttermilk pancakes with ham sandwiched between them, and a fried egg on top for just $1.95. Also, for $1.95 you can get two eggs, cooked any way you like them, with bacon or sausage, hash browns, toast and jelly.

Terrible’s Hotel and Casino’s graveyard specials, offered in the Bougain Villa Café, are downright awesome. Take for instance Terrible’s Triple Play breakfast. You get three eggs, three strips of crisp bacon or sausage and three fluffy pancakes for the wildly low price of $1.99 served from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. If you are a little bit hungrier, then the four-of-a- kind special is just right. You receive four eggs, a 12-ounce bone-in ham steak, a heaping mound of hash browns potatoes and toast for just $3.99 (24 hours a day). Now that’s a price to be dealt with!

Terrible’s is throwing five pool parties in the month of May for members of their Players Card. The parties will be held every Thursday beginning May 3 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

In order to qualify for an invitation, Player Card holders must earn at least 5,000 points in the month of April and then redeem 1,500 points for each party at the Players Club booth.

Included with your admission to the pool party will be a live band, an all-you-can-eat buffet and cocktails.

For more information, contact the Terrible’s Players Club booth.

Well, if you’re feeling kinda blue after paying your taxes, then come to Ellis Island’s tax relief street party this Friday from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. If you have never attended one of Ellis Island’s parties before, why not now? This is the first one this year, and they will have one every month until October - and their annual Octoberfest. For $10, you will receive all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink street party. They will be serving up brats & kraut, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, ribs, buttered corn on the cob, coleslaw, beans and much more! You also get as much of the Ellis Island microbrew you can drink, as they have five different hand-crafted beers, brewed by the brew master general himself, Joe Picket. I know I will be there, so I hope to see you at Ellis Island this Friday.
