I think West Virginia has seen quite enough of Pitt for a season.
Bad enough the Panthers cost WVU a berth in the BCS title game in football, but hitting a game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer is cold.
So, bet the Mountaineers next year against Pittsburgh in any sport. Double revenge, at the least!
Now for this week.
Tuesday, Feb. 12
Michigan St -1 at Purdue: The Spartans won 78-75 as a 13½ point favorite in the first meeting. Purdue is 9-1 ATS in last 10 and 7-1 as an underdog. PURDUE.
Butler -7½ at Wisc-Milw: Butler has 20 wins but just 3-6 ATS on the road. Dog role suits Milwaukee, going 8-4 ATS when not favored. WISC-MILW.
Wednesday, Feb. 13
Xavier -7 at NC Charlotte: The dog barks loud here. Charlotte a stellar 10-1 ATS in the role. Xavier, the class of the A-10, is just 2-5 ATS on the road. BEST BET. UNCC.
Drake -4½ at S. Illinois: Drake has won 21 straight and is a scalding 16-4 ATS. The Salukis lost the first meeting by 10 as a 4½-point dog. Second verse same as first. DRAKE.
Thursday, Feb. 14
Rutgers +19½ at W. Virginia: Rutgers lost 87-50 at Louisville and it wasn’t that close. With the host Mountaineers still smarting off the Pitt loss, this is roadkill. WVU.
Friday, Feb. 15
Brown -7 at Penn: All these years that Ivy patsies like Brown took it on the chin and gut from the mighty Quakers. Well, not this season. Pennsylvania is 4-10 ATS. BROWN.
Saturday, Feb. 16
Stanford +2 at Ariz: Outside of UCLA, this is the hottest team in the Pac 10. The Lopez twins have been dominant. Arizona is coming off a stunning loss to Arizona St. STANFORD.
Okla -1 at Tx Tech: It’s Pat Knight’s team now and that may not nearly be enough to hold off the visiting Sooners . OKLAHOMA.
Sunday, Feb. 17
UCLA -3 at USC: Love stinks for J. Geils, but not in Westwood. Bruins coming off a loss. UCLA.
Monday, Feb. 18
G’town -6½ at PC: The Hoyas have lost just twice, but are just 7-9 ATS as a favorite. Providence is a mediocre 10-11 ATS, but a much better 6-3 at home. PC.
(Early lines are approximate. Closing lines determine wins and losses.)
