Fremont revved up for Vegas race

It’s the start of a big NASCAR week in Las Vegas! The Fremont Street Experience will be celebrating its Annual Race Jam beginning Friday, Feb. 29.

The racing weekend will feature free live concerts, NASCAR merchandise booths and plenty of fast-paced fun. The annual Race Jam brings two days of rocking entertainment to Fremont Street with Blake Shelton, LoCash Cowboys, Bruce in the USA and Garage Boys. The performances are: Feb. 29, Garage Boys, 6-8 p.m. at 3rd Street Stage; Bruce in the USA, 9-11 p.m. at 3rd Street Stage;

March 1, LoCash Cowboys, 6-8 p.m. at 3rd Street Stage; Blake Shelton, 9-11 p.m. at 3rd Street Stage.

For motorsports thrill-seekers, the motorcycle daredevil team Bela Tabak’s Riders of the Thunderdome will perform on Friday and Saturday night at 9:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on the Main Street stage. The NASCAR merchandise trailer will be out for fans to support their favorite racing team.

The Annual Race Jam starts Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Fremont Street Experience garage located at Carson and 4th Streets.

NASCAR driver, Kurt Busch will host a free autograph signing on Feb. 29 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. as well as a car show display from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Food Court area at the Palms. Fans are encouraged to bring their own memorabilia for an autograph. Following the meet and greet, Busch will introduce a special performance in The Pearl Concert Theater by the Mighty Mighty BossTones. Free tickets for the show are currently available through purchase of specially marked 18-packs of Miller Lite.

South Point club members can pick up free NASCAR qualifying day tickets through Feb. 29, or while supplies last. You must be a South Point Club member. There is a limit of two tickets per customer.

For its final send-off, Nevada Palace will host a blood drive Feb. 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nevada Palace will be giving out a special commemorative medallion to everyone who gives blood. United Blood Services will be providing T-shirts. Additionally, donors can be among the first to eat at the brand new Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel, which opens late this summer. A meal voucher for two will be provided exclusively to donors. Nevada Palace will close for good on this day at 10 p.m. in preparation of the new casino being built on its grounds.
