At Hollywood Park, we were beat in a photo in the first, which cost us the double and pick three as we won races two and three. We made up for in race four as we ran 1-2-3 hitting the exacta for $45.20 and the trifecta for $116.20. We ran 1-2 in race five hitting the exacta for $32.80. Our key horse won the sixth. We lost race seven but had the winner in the eighth and ninth races. At Bay Meadows we hit our early double for $17.20.
California Gold Rush Day!
Trainer Carla Gaines has cooled off since her super-hot roll but could get things started once again on Gold Rush Day as she has all her Tiz horses primed and ready – if they are able to transfer their Santa Anita form to Hollywood. In this race, she saddles the No. 2, Tiz a Blend, who has won three of her five turf starts. One interesting filly in here is No. 3, Mood Winner, who ran far back behind Tiz a Blend last time out but has won both her turf starts here at Hollywood and could light up the tote at 15-1. No. 1, Swiss Current, and the No. 4, Lightmyfirebaby, also exit that race.
$1 tri key 2 with 1-3-4 with 1-3-4 for $6
$2 exacta box 2-3-4 for $12
Trainer Gaines tries to hit the early double as she saddles No. 5, Tiz Elemental, who has won four straight races and won here the only time she raced. No. 3, Silver Z, makes her first start of 2008 but can run. The No. 2, Mystical Plan, was last seen banging heads with super fillie Rags to Riches in the Kentucky Oaks last year. 2-3-5
This looks like a two-horse race between No. 2, Final Fling, and No. 7, Bel Air Sizzle, who comes back in three days. I think Sizzle may be scratched as she is a turf horse and her only bad race was on the cushion track here at Hollywood. Single the No. 2 in here.
We will use the No. 1 Celtic, Dreamin, and the No. 2, Mr. Wolverine, in this small six-horse field. 1-2
There are too many unknown factors to get real involved in this race, but the ones that look best are No. 8, Dancing in Silks, who just missed at first asking when rallying very wide on the turn. No. 9, Imblendednotshaken, gets a big jockey change and had a ton of trouble in his first start and No. 13, Apoplectic, has been very unlucky to still be a maiden. 8-9-13
This one is another that you can’t get involved in but for those that are taking part in the million dollar pick six they could go with No. 3, Too Phar, who has a good record here at Hollywood. No. 6, Princess Amelie, won her only start here. Longshot No. 10, Lots of Sunshine, at 12-1, does best on numbers and has a big shot in here. No. 13, Sherry’s High, just ran behind Bel Air Sizzle in her last start and there are none of that caliber in here. 3-6-10-13
No. 4, Johnny Eves, ran the best race of his career on this course. No. 7, Notional, bombed in Dubai but if able to shake off that trip he could be a danger in here, but these guys that come back from that trip usually can’t get back in form for a while. No. 9, Bilo, has four wins, a second and a third from six tries here at Hollywood. 4-7-9
We will take a shot with No. 11, Bestdressed, and at 12-1 has been running against some very good horses on the grass and looks legged up for this 7 furlong sprint. No. 1, Public Image, just ran behind Skimmetry who came back on Saturday to win again. 1-11
No. 8, Nitro Active, ran third to Behindatthebar in his last and that horse could be running in the Kentucky Derby. No. 5, Berts Law, is the closer in here and could be flying late and run down the speed and there is a ton of it in here. No. 9, Scotts Spirit, is one of those speed horses and will try and run his winning streak to three. No. 13, Pleasure Grounds, gets Gomez and does best on numbers and this guy will be sitting in the garden spot. Key the 13 with 5-8-9 and use all four in the picks. 5-8-9-13
We will use three in the final leg of the pick six: No. 5, Sensitive Soul, who gets back on the artificial surface after a failed attempt on the grass. No. 12, Small But Mighty, and No. 13, Just N Excess, both of whom exited a fast heat. 5-12-13
In this race No. 5, Touch Of Ireland, will try and reverse her loss last time to No. 3, Oresia.
Play a 5-3 one way exacta and back it up with a 3-5 quinnella.
Play a dime super in here keying 3-5 with 1-6-8-9 and make a win bet on No. 3, Sands of Time, who is 15-1 in the morning line but could upset in here.
10¢ super key 3-5 with 3-5-6-8-9 with 3-5-6-8-9 with 3-5-6-8-9 for $4.80
$10 win No. 3 for $10
This looks like a four-horse race with some prices so we will make a tri box with all four.
$1 tri box 3-5-9-10 for $24
Always remember to check for late scratches and changes.
