Puck Playoffs by Kevin Stott for Monday, April 28, 2008

Montreal Canadiens at Philadelphia Flyers (-120, 5½) (Versus TV): Philly split the two games in Quebec, thus stealing the home-ice advantage in the East semifinal series. A great part of the reason why is Daniel Briere, the playoffs’ leading scorer and one of the best off-season acquisitions (from Buffalo Sabres) in recent NHL memory. If the Flyers somehow reach the Stanley Cup finals, Briere and goaltender Martin Biron will be a big part of the reason why.

The line at the Las Vegas Hilton for this crucial game opened at Philadelphia -135 and was quickly bet down 15 cents to -120 with the early money going Les Habs way. But the momentum is surely in the Flyers corner so Dr. Hockey’s prescription is to take Philadelphia at home with the low price even though Montreal has beaten the Flyboys five out of the six times they’ve met this season. FLYERS -120.
