Power Plays by Kevin Stott |

Tuesday, April 29

Penguins at Rangers (G3) (Versus): The series shifts to the Big Apple and young Pens phenoms Crosby and Malkin will test Lundqvists’s mettle in MSG. Goals scarce. UNDER.

Sharks at Stars (G3): One of San Jose’s many strengths is the ability to win on the road (27-10-4) making this the perfect situation to justify taking the underdog. SHARKS +.

Red Wings at Avalanche (G3) (Versus): The Pepsi Can will be shakin’ as this series skates into the Mile High City. With a number of solid scorers on ice, Osgood and Theodore must face the shooting gallery. OVER.

Wednesday, April 30

Canadiens at Flyers (G4) (Versus): Les Habs swept season series and outscored Philly, 15-6. Montreal will have to make a move in this pivotal game and is proven on the road (25-12-4) this season. FLYERS.

Sharks at Stars (G4) (Versus): Both teams should be tired on this second night of back-to-backer but no doubt Nabokov and Turco will have to be in goal. Two goals in each period seems to be just about right. OVER.

Thursday, May 1

Penguins at Rangers (G4) (Versus): Malkin evolving into player on the Ovechkin-Crosby level and to get to bet with Sid the Kid and Fleury as an underdog pure pleasure despite the formidable foe. PENGUINS +.

Red Wings at Avalanche (G4) (Versus): Detroit dominated Avs, sweeping season series, 4-0. Wings may give Hasek start here, and vet should rise to the occasion after skiddish Preds’ series. Avs need a healthy Forsberg. RED WINGS +.

Friday, May 2

(All if necessary beyond this point)

Stars at Sharks (G5): Stars are 8-0-1 in their last nine games at HP Pavilion (aka SharkTank) in San Jose. STARS.

Saturday, May 3

Avalanche at Red Wings (G5): Best overall home record (29-9-3)? Back ‘em. RED WINGS.

Flyers at Canadiens (G5): It’s "Hockey Night in Canada" and the Flyboys are still bitter about blowing series opener. CANADIENS.

Sunday, May 4

Rangers at Penguins (G5): Pitt has more oxygen in their tank… PENGUINS.

Canadiens at Flyers (G6): Philly forces a Game 7 if this is played. FLYERS.

Monday, May 5

Penguins at Rangers (G6): The Rangers always play good at the Garden on Cinco de Mayo (I kid). RANGERS.

Red Wings at Avalanche (G6): Detroit still trying to throw that playoff monkey, which is slowly growing into a gorilla, off its’ back. RED WINGS.
