At Hollywood we ran one-two in the first race, we lost the second and our pick in race three had a horrible trip and finished third. We had the winner in the fourth, we ran one-two in the fifth and sixth but lost the next two races. At Bay Meadows, we ran second in the first, out in the second, we ran second again in race three, we won the fourth and the fifth but lost the sixth. Our single in race seven, Ben’s Starry Night, was an easy winner and we ran one-two in the last race.
Race 10: The 134th running of the Kentucky Oaks
This is a very good field for the Oaks; we will take a shot with three horses in here and play doubles with the three going to the Kentucky Derby. No. 1, Golden Doc A, is a consistent filly and at 12-1 in the morning line is worth a shot, especially since she has been working up a storm and gets Kent D. in the irons. No. 6, Country Star, has been banging heads with the best 3-year-old fillies in the country; she gets her main jock back in the saddle and looks primed for a top effort. No. 8, Proud Spell, is the stable mate of Eight Belles, who is also entered in this race but most likely will go in the Kentucky Derby tomorrow; this girl can run and beat County Star in her last start in the Grade 1 Ashland. 1-6-7
We will make doubles from these three fillies going to four horses in the Kentucky Derby: No. 4, Court Vision, No. 8 Visionaire, No. 10 Colonel John and No. 20 Big Brown.
$2 Oaks to Derby doubles for $24
This looks like a two-horse race between No. 4, Hottodi, and No. 6, Queen Holly. Hottodi is coming back quickly in just five days, looks like the only speed and could take them wire to wire. 4-6
No. 6, Quick Commander, gets Rosario and blinkers for her second lifetime start for O’Neill; all systems are go for this 3yo filly: single No. 6.
More 2-year-olds make one wide open. If playing picks, the suggestion is 4-5-7. No. 4, Molly McFast, and No. 5, Octoberfest, are Swiss Yodeler offspring from the Harrington barn and this is his game. No. 7, Deb’s Mojo, gets blinkers on for Wesley Ward. 4-5-7
No. 5, Spriggzee, likes this track and looks fit; his only drawback may be the new bug boy in town, P. Arammbula. No. 8, Tolnai, is the speed and the one that they will have to run down. 5-8
No cinches in here; we will go with No. 1, Dilemma, who has won his only turf start. No. 5, Charmo, has back class and gets his second start off the layoff. Let’s add No. 8 Worchester to the mix. 1-5-8
Race 6: 1-2-7-8
No. 1, Lemon Chiffon, gets a great post for this flat mile on the grass and I like the fact that Court is riding in place of Nakatani, who is in Kentucky, lucky for us. No. 2, Stefani, had her only win here on the Hollywood grass and may rebound. No. 8, Blanche Sweet, is a deep closer and will be coming late. No. 3, Ransom Captive, looks set for a top effort and is the one to beat in here. 1-2-3-8
This looks like a three-horse race with No. 2, Osceola Prince, taking a big drop in class trying to get the maiden breaker, No. 4, Whatwillbewillbe, is getting blinkers and coming off a big try in his one and only, but he could be a bounce candidate. No. 10, Orientation Hall, drops from the straight maiden ranks to a $32k maiden claimer. 2-4-10
Can’t find much to mess with here with all the short fields, but we’ll take a shot with the first pick three and hope for a price in race two. Here, the No. 2, Black Mallou, seems much the best so we will use him as a single. 2
They all have a shot so let’s play all and root for a price. 1-2-3-4-5-6
We’ll put our eggs in one basket and single No. 1, She’s a Lucky Wager, who is in top form and looks set for another win – she is also two for two on the Bay Meadows turf course. 1
$2 Pick Three for $12:
Race 1: 2
Race 2: all six
Race 3: 1
Race 4: 2-4-6
Race 5: 1-2
Race 6: 1-2-3-5
This looks like a good late double and in the first leg we will use No. 1, Good Thoughts, who ran well in her only race as a 2yo and now makes her 3yo debut. No. , Moon Woman, just ran behind the likely odds-on favorite here. Also, let’s add No. 3, Cherry Cosmo. 1-2-3
This is a cold two-horse race with No. 3, Britney Heat, and Bay Meadows’ turf specialist No. 7, Pamelot. 3-7
$2 double for $12:
Race 7: 1-2-3
Race 8: 3-7
Tune in tomorrow for my Kentucky Derby trifecta and supercecta play’s and hopefully we will be alive in our Oaks to Derby double.
Always remember to check for late scratches and changes.
