There’s Value In Giants Games

The Las Vegas Hilton just released its NFL Games of the Year, a list enabling bettors to determine bargain lines months before the kickoff. From our view, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants are not getting proper respect. Either that or the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in football.

Dallas is a 2½-point favorite at New York in Week 9 and two weeks later is a 3-point favorite at Washington. Does that mean the Redskins are basically equal with the Giants? I don’t think so. The Giants are also a 2½-point underdog at Cleveland in Week 6. Another possibly overrated team is New England, slated as 14-point home favorites over the Jets and Denver.

Chase Is On To Catch Utley

Chase Utley (Phillies) was once 100-1 at the Hilton to win the home run title. Now he’s down to 18-1 and leading the majors by four with 13. Lance Berkman (25-1, Astros) and Chipper Jones (40-1, Braves) are next with 9. Derrek Lee (15-1, Cubs) and Hanley Ramirez (50-1, Marlins) each have 8.

There may be some value in the coming week on the favorites. Alex Rodriguez (5-1, Yanks) has just four homers, while Ryan Howard (5-1, Phils) has 6 and a ton of strikeouts. Carlos Pena (15-1, Rays) has 7. If you like the "field" at 10-1, your top contenders are Pat Burrell (Phils) and Mike Jacobs (Marlins), each with 8. Miguel Cabrera (25-1, Tigers) and Albert Pujols (12-1, Cards) have 6. Prince Fielder (15-1) is off to a slow start for Milwaukee with 4. Check GT each week for updated odds.
