by Mark Mayer | The Orleans will be the site Friday night for a six-bout card that features a fight for the IBA Heavyweight Championship. The main event pits Carlos Barnett against Franklin Lawrence.
Barnett, a -125 favorite at the Orleans Race and Sports book, enters the bout with an 11-1 record. Lawrence, the even-money underdog, is 9-1-2. The two fighters will hold a news conference at noon Wednesday at the Mardi Gras Ballroom.
The other heavyweight fight on the card features former UNLV basketball product Kaspars Kambala (1-0-1) against Emile Whiterocks, who is making his professional debut.
The other bouts on the undercard include middleweights Rodrigo Aguiar (4-3) vs. Simon Ruvalcaba (4-9-2); cruiserweights DeMark Scott (1-1-1) vs Rudy Pierre Louis (3-2-0); bantamweights David Springer (0-0-1) vs Jose Pacheco (0-1-3) and featherweights Brian Battease (2-0) vs Tomas Bernal (3-6-2).
