Dallas Stars at Detroit Red Wings (-206, 5u -115) (Versus TV): The Stars certainly won’t catch the Red Wings off-guard after their elimination of both the defending Stanley Cup champion Ducks and the Sharks in the quarter and semifinals. Detroit won the season series 3-1, outscoring Dallas, 12-5, but this Stars team is playing with major momentum and are simply finding ways to win the close ones.
Dallas netminder Marty Turco (8-4, .929 save percentage, 1.73 GAA playoffs) is a big part of the reason why and will have to be just as tough – if not better – against the Red Wings who are really clicking on all cylinders offensively now. To put it in proper perspective, Detroit scored more goals (8) in its’ last game than Dallas did against the Red Wings in four games in the regular season (5).
This game will mean trying to keep the Stars from stealing the home-ice advantage and with Chris Osgood (6-0, 1.52 GAA) playing as good as anyone right now, it’s hard to go against the home team here, despite the hefty price. With the total at 5, the lean is toward the OVER with so many talented scorers on the ice from both teams and the pressure on Dallas to try and steal the home-ice advantage and on Detroit to no let that happen, In short, goals will be answered by goals from the opposition and a 4-3 game could be in the cards.
Bet sparingly on the conference semis as anything can happen and always does. And the total is always a good way to hedge the side you’re choosing. (Example: $20.60 on Red Wings to win $10 and $40 on Over +105 to win $42). Although Dallas has done great to get to this point, the taxing Sharks’ series may have taken a little out of them and this game may be the opportunity to take advantage of that. RED WINGS, OVER 5.
