Saber's Horse Selections for Thursday, May 8, 2008

May 8, 2008 8:50 PM

by Richard Saber |

Yesterday’s results

At Hollywood we ran first second and third and race one and our single in race two won. In the third we ran second and third, we ran first second and third once again in race four but we could not beat the chalk in race five as our key horse ran third. In race six we really had some bad luck as we ran first second and third but our key horse in the super ran second. We had the winner in race seven but two or our horses in the eight got scratched. At Bay Meadows the odds on chalk won the fifth, we got beat at the wire in the sixth, our single won the seventh and we ran second in race 8.

Hollywood Park

Race 1

No. 1 Gold Datnoid gets back to the spot of her last win which was here at Hollywood at this distance and in fact it was the best race she has ever run, look for her to wake up big time today. No. 4 Real Lift will be the big chalk but Mullins does not raise her in price following the claim, but she is the one to beat. 1-4

Race 2

We have $40k 2yo maidens going 4 ½ furlongs – this is a jockey and trainer’s game and the main ones in here are No. 4 Cat Dreamer, No. 7 Bring The Money and No. 8 Star Cat Go. 4-7-8

Race 3

I really like this race and will take a big shot with No. 7, Bigum, who is an 0-15 maiden, but was claimed by Nick Canani who brings them in at around 30% first off the claim. His main foe will be No. 9 Working Man Blues who will be bet like a good thing as he ships in from Gulfstream Park and shows up here in the barn of Mike Mitchell for super owner Bob Bone. We will make a tri and super and key both in the early pick four.

$1tri 7-9 with 7-9 with 2-3-6-8 for $8

$1super 7-9 with 7-9 with 2-3-6-8 with 2-3-6-8 for $16

$1tri 7-9 with all with 7-9 for $16

Race 4

What we really need in this race is an all, as no one in this race has a time necessary to win but the two that are near par for this type of race are No. 5, Warrens Flyin High, and No. 6, Drewthegentleman, so we will use both and then play an all in the early pick four. 5-6

$1 Pick Four for $24

Race 1: 1-4

Race 2: 4-7-8

Race 3: 7-8

Race 4: 5-6

$1 Pick Four for $24

Race 1:t 4

Race 2: 4-7-8

Race 3: 9

Race 4: all

Race 5

No. 3 Sassou ran huge in victory going a flat mile at Santa Anita on the grass in his last start. The second place finisher came back and won. Sassou is now two for two on the grass and two for two at this distance and he showed a new dimension last time coming off the pace. No. 5 Pistol Pete Afleet is afleet and will to take them wire to wire which he almost did in his lone turf try in the LaPuente. 3-5

Race 6

No. 4 Concinnous battled tooth and nail from start to finish in her last start and held to be a very game second. No. 3 Paloma’s Flight and No. 5 Accopela Choir both exit the same race and these three could make a nice tri. 3-4-5

$1 Tri box 3-4-5 for $6

$2 Exacta box 3-4-5 for $12

Race 7

They don’t get any more wide open than this race so we will look for a price and tread lightly. In here No. 7 Ainamaa ahs just as much chance off the layoff as any of the others and she is 10-1 in the morning line we will bet her to win and make some key DQ’s with No. 2 Big Bertha and No. 8 Silver Moonshine.

$20 win on No. 7 for $20

$10 key Q 7 with 2-8 for $20

Race 8

More 2yo maidens and there are no clues in here except some works. Doug O’Neill trains No. 4 Azul Leon who looks ready to run and top jock Bejarano says he will ride. No. 5 Mustang Aleyna also looks set for a top effort and his trainer has already won one of these 2yo races at the meet. No. 6 Cut The Check is trained by dangerous 2yo expert trainer W Solis and this one has several bullets in his holster including a .46 flat 4f work which was best of 51 on April 26, he is loaded for bear. No. 9 Nochangenweather looks very sneaky in here. 4-5-6-9

BAY MEADOWS

Race 1

Usually when trainer Miyadi has two in the same race and they are not an entry he wins with one of them – in race one he has No. 3 Oneanwin and No. 5 Flirting for Love. 3-5

Race 2

This one looks like it will be the chalk No. 1, Dee’s a Legend, who just did miss by a nose in her last and No. 2 Highly Quick who drops to her last claimed price and Baze jumps back on. 1-2

Race 3

This one looks like more chalk with the Santa Anita shipper No. 5, Onetimeatbandcamp, and No. 6, Giant Beltway. The only one that could upset is the first time starter No. 2 Trust N the Wind. 2-5-6

Race 4

One way call here as we just cant bet against the odds on choice in here No. 5 Leslie Lill, she wins if she still has three good legs. We cant bet on her but we will single her in the early pick four. 5

$1 Pick Four for $12

Race 1: 3-5

Race 2: 1-2

Race 3: 2-5-6

Race 4: 5

Race 5

This race is just another one of those Bay Meadows races that you cant bet on as No. 3 Slews the Believer ships in from Santa Anita with decent form and drops from a $25k maiden into a 8k maiden and gets Baze to ride, our only option is to single in the late pick four. 3

Race 6

We will go deep in this flat mile turf race as there are several that can pop. 1-2-4-6-7

Race 7

I made this a two horse race with No. 1 Tuscan Princess another Santa Anita shipper with decent form but this one drops only form a 32k maiden claimer into a $20k and looks very live. Her main foe could come from No. 2 Tianjin who gets her first start off the lay off for trainer Mason who can score at a price with these kind. 1-2

Race 8

We will use No. 5 Classy Attraction another Santa Anita shipper with good form who gets blinkers on, her main danger could come from first time starter No. 6 Maggie’s Patches. 5-6

$1 Pick Four for $20

Race 5: 3

Race 6: 1-2-4-6-7

Race 7: 1-2

Race 8: 5-6

DON’T FORGET TO CHECK FOR LATE SCRATCHES
