NBA Playoffs

Game 4 at San Antonio

(TNT, 6:05 pm PT)

Spurs -4 vs Lakers (192)

The Spurs made it a series in Game 3 with a solid 18-point victory as a 5-point favorite. San Antonio has fit the pattern of the playoffs by protecting its home court and covering spreads. The Spurs won all three games in San Antonio against New Orleans and can square the series at 2-2 with another victory over the Lakers. The line is 1 points lower, figuring that the Lakers will step up the intensity level with an opportunity for clinching the series at Los Angeles in Game 5.

We mentioned in an early capsule that the linesmakers continue to believe incorrectly that this will be an offensive series. All three games have gone below the posted totals of 195, 193 and 193. Game 3 opened at 191, eventually closing 2 points higher. No matter, the 102-84 final fell short. With so much on the line, especially for the Spurs, expect another defensive result that ends shy of the projected total. Its interesting that the Spurs-Lakers series has been roughly 20 points higher in the projected totals than East Finals between the Celtics and Pistons, which has been in the low 170s. UNDER.
