SILVER SWALLOW: Had been running second for a long time as she was stuck in this first level allowance condition. She exploded down the stretch and won this race with ease. Looks like the kind that will move right up and score again.

VAN BRIT: Broke slow in this very tough 80k maiden claimer. She stalked while saving ground down on the inside, swung around a rival and came on strong to be one of three at the wire in a very good effort.

BURNT: Was taking the big drop by Frankel going from the straight maiden ranks to a 25k maiden claimer. She did almost get there, but could not run down the 9-5 favorite. There were no claims in for her so look for this girl to get the money for Mr. F in her next start.

BRIAN THE BOLD: I hate to get stuck on a horse, but I have been on this guy now for three straight races and he has had the worst luck a horse could ever have. I will not bet on him again unless there is a jockey change. Alex Solis just butchered him in this race. Next time, but only with a jockey change.

LEMONETTE: Broke in the air and looked hopelessly beaten. She got going at the top of the stretch and came home like a freight train. Won going away in an eye catching move. $$$

VIXANA: Had the misfortune of running into the highly regarded Indian Way, who blitzed this bunch by five lengths. Vixana looked primed for a big effort and really had a big run despite being wide early and losing some two lengths in the turn. Got up for the place, despite being four wide into the stretch. $$$

WILD BUDDY: Fought it out tooth and nail the entire race finish second. Buddy is in top form and if able to clear early in his next start will be long gone before they know what hit them.

MAJOR SMOKE: Looked like a single in this race and broke very sharp. Jockey Solis took hold and had him next to last before the quarter pole. Made his normal wide move and got up for the show in what was just another lousy ride by Solis. This guy can run but needs a Rosario or Bejarano type ride. $$$

SODA POP KID: Just loved this guy on the drop in this 25k maiden race. He ran a good one to get up late for the win. Was claimed by Wesley Ward, who don’t dip in and claim many. Look for some more good stuff from the kid.

IMITATION: Checked into the first turn when hemmed in down on the rail. Looked to be making a winning move, but got stuck in heavy traffic entering the land. He then tried to rally, but lost his momentum from all the early trouble.

BUCK TUDDY BUCK: Back classer was shipped in and dropped to the bottom by Sherman as he tried to get away with one here. Was claimed by another top- notch outfit, the Steven Miyadi barn. Look for the move up and possible turf run in next start.

KARLEE’S KITTEN: Looked good in this spot, but when making her move on the inside trying to split horses she was crowded and forced out of the race. If she remains here at the Gate, give her another shot.

PORT OF ENTRY: Lloyd Mason had two entered in this race – both first-time starters, Port of Entry went off at 6-1 and the eventual winner Carissa won and paid $68.80. It was a winner I released on Saber’s Daily Horse Selections on When Mason has two that aren’t an entry, he usually wins with one. Next time it could be Port of Entry, who actually ran a very good race finishing fourth.

FLY BREAD: Turf Paradise shipper just did miss by a nose to the odds-on chalk, but was well clear of the rest. Look for a quick comeback and a trip to the winner’s circle.
